Fruity Patooty Beers!
Beers, sweet glorious beers. The oil that lubricates life itself. Where would we be without beer? Well, possibly not in the toilet pissing like an elephant at four in the morning.
I digress. So here we are on a fine Saturday and that can only mean one thing... Beer!
It has been a long time since I did a beer post and the world has moved on in that time. We have to be more sensitive to others, more tolerant. Men in particular with our toxic masculinity have to tread more carefully now and stop being such dicks.
It is to the furtherance of such tolerance and acceptance that this week I have decided to try some...
That's right, lady beers! Beers that tickle a lady's fancy. Fruity beers with hints of dessert and other such sweet things that should not be.
Ah, I jest of course. Well, mostly. The Good Lady and I were out and passed the Beer Shop the other day. She was bowled over by the choices on display and fancied choosing a couple.
Who was I to refuse, so we doubled up on her feeble can numbers and here we are.
So what delight do we have first?
A fruit sour with Mango, Passion Fruit and fuck knows what else. The label mentions strawberries as well. I mean, for the love of god chaps, make up your fucking mind. Is this a Fruit Salad or a mighty beer?
A frothy chap, like slops from a golden beer sea.
The 4% ABV doesn't fill me with confidence. I like my beers to punch me right in the face. Oh well, here goes.
Hot galloping potatoes. This is like riding a Mango Pony through a field of juicy fruit. I do like it. It is a bit flat, even a bit thin in the mouth BUT it is juicy and sour and not so sour that my anus is puckering up like Sarah Jessica Parker eating a carb.
It doesn't really taste of alcohol which can either be a plus or a minus. Given that is is August in Scotland and is not raining for ten minutes. I am going to be generous and take it as a plus. 7 out of 10 booms!
Yes yes, I said 4 out of 5 in the video but I couldn't remember my rating system!
Well, that was good. What next?
A Peach and Honeycomb Sundae? Well well, that sounds a little better. I have always been fond of a Sundae. If they can squidge it in a glass and ram up the alcohol content then I will be a happy man. The mention of apricot gives me a little bit of the heebs as it is a known fact that no one likes apricots.
It looks exactly the same as the last one! Right down to the frothing madness at the top.
What's the worst that can happen? To the necking!
Aargh, that was minging. Like bitter fruity watery snotters. Disappointing, like that time when an old lady spat in my hand. I didn't even get an erection. A poor showing. However, that is a tale for another day. A poor 2/10 booms!
And there we have it. Slightly rusty with a mixed bag of beers but its done. And now, to the real stuff!

I had some lady beers a week or two ago. The mango-ish one was the best. Had a peach flavored sour beer that was alright but it reminded me of some bathtub hooch.

The nasty beers are the best and you just know from the description and ingredients used they will be dreadful. You start to wonder who buys them and how they stay in business as surely the drop off in sales after your reviews hits the market place.

Hehe, some fruity ones can be awesome and some can be really confused about what they want to be, lol. Thankfully one was half good! 🙂
They always want to mix all the fruits in one, you get confused most times if it is pineapple, strawberry or watermelon then you realize everything was in it 😁

I haven't been too much of a fan of the fruity beers that I've tried recently but sours and fruit beers seem to be the new trend these days. 7 out of 10 for the mango beer is a pretty good rating. I can't imagine what mango beer would taste like. I'd give it a shot at least once if I saw it
It is definitely the trend. There was a gigantic section of fruits and sours.

Mind you I had a Canadian beer the other day and they served it with a slice of orange. The beer itself was okay though.

I had a Blue Moon somewhere recently. I didn't love it. The latest one was something different, but I can't remember the name. It was from a brewery in Québec.

I've tried them kind of beers a few times and never by choice and they've always been manky and too tart and not what I want in a beer. Got a few in an advent calendar beer box one year and they were pure shite. Had another on a beer tasting paddle at a brewery, again piss water.
Glad you landed on a decent one with the Glorious Mango Basterds... Even the name is quality, so glad the contents of the tin matched it.
Nice garden by the way, looks like a great place to chill out for the 3 days of summer sunshine.
Those 3 days of good weather make the garden chilling perfect! It was a shite garden when I moved in but kept doing a wee bit here and there. Now I love it!!

I would reccomend if is available or imported into your country our most popular beer here the Philippines and a personal favorite. It is called San Miguel Pale Pilsen.
It's that looks regular San Miguel or is it a different variety? I do like a San Miguel!!
Here it has different varieties. There’s a light version. And even flavored beers. But nothing beats the original which is the regular one. And im glad to hear you like it.

I'm not a fan of fruit flavored beers, in fact I haven't tried many before but the ones I have tried I didn't like. That was interesting! I have never had a fruity beer! To be fair, they have used fruit in beer for a long time, I just didn't always know it. With Homebrewing and craft-y beers, there has been a fruit revolution.
The sour citrus looked acceptable... hmmmm. I may have to give it a go.

The first one was very acceptable! I have had some corking fruity ones in the post, spurs same just straight up fruit ones. I think I expected more because of that but still. Beer Saturday, it was fun!! 😀😀

I never thought I'd say it but some of these new fruit-infused beers aren't half bad (but some are downright awful). I tried a sour raspberry one that would have peeled the paint off the walls. It was in a variety pack that I bought.
We live in a condo building and, this entire summer, I've been anonymously leaving a can of beer in front of one of my older neighbor's door a few times a month. He really likes beer but was stuck on Corona so I thought I'd help him expand his repertoire a little with some variety. My wife and I are taking bets on how long we can keep this up without him finding out, but then, maybe he already knows but is keeping quiet because he likes the free beer. Lol.

I like some sours and some fruity beers but there are a lot of shoddy ones out there. I am glad that the first one wasn't Ricoh as if they were both bad I would have wept!

It's so good and as an added bonus doesn't have corn syrup in it. Lots of craft beers here in the states are starting to use corn syrup in the brewing process and it's really not great for you. I think it gives more of a punch to the alcohol though and I think this is the real reason they do it. It feels like doing a shot.
Corn syrup is bad, I would steer clear of those ones too although I can imagine as you say doing it for the alcohol hit as it will give the yeasties more to devour and turn into it. I like everything in life to not have things that you dont naturally have!

If I want a fermented, fruity alcoholic beverage, I'd go with a cider over a fruit beer every time. Pear cider is fermented pears, peach cider; peaches, apple cider; surprise -- apples. To date, they always taste like the fruit they are named after.
But ... having said that, it's awesome to watch you try to keep the swill in your mouth and finish the video.
