Follow Friday: Sinking feeling
The News
Crypto fans are getting excited about Bitcoin going up. I do not hold any, but it tends to influence the general market. It does not seem to be having too much effect on $HIVE. It has been dropping in the @coingecko charts despite holding its price and even creeping up a little, but it has slipped from the 1000 Satoshi level. I am not sure why my chart is missing some data. There may be some restrictions on how much Coingecko let you download now.
I did not do a #FollowFriday post last week as things were a little busy. I have not seen much major news this week, but let me know if there is anything exciting going on with Hive.
Friday Follows
- I met up with @alessandrawhite and @bitterirony last week in London. They were over from Texas and will be back again next year, so we need some more meetups then.
- @mcsamm and @collinz wanted to come to the meetup, but we missed each other. They did get to a big crypto exhibition at the weekend and have posts about it. I went in 2019 with some of the old crowd, some of whom are not active on Hive, but @revisesociology was there.
- @embeyler is looking to revive the Beem Python library for Hive. It has not been maintained in a while, but a lot of people use it, including me.
- @demotruk and @dalz have been producing some interesting statistics about Hive. The trends they show are not too encouraging, but we have a solid core of regular users. We need to grow that.
- @ugochill has been doing some posts featuring musicians on Hive including @ravenmus1c and @ivanc (Black Eye Butterfly). There is some great music here that we should be supporting. Some of it can be bought for crypto.
The Dog House
I know some people enjoy this section of these posts, but I do not always have something to write about. I keep an eye on the Hive-DR Discord for cases that need attention. This week they found this guy. He has churned out ten posts in the last couple of hours with images that look to be machine-generated and the text may be too. Previously he has done single character comments to get votes on. This is adding no value to Hive and deserves no rewards. He is unlikely to make anything and may just be trolling us, but you can downvote it anyway.
The End
The end of the year is fast approaching. Have you met your goals? If you have a post about that then let me know and I will feature some in coming weeks. What are your expectations for 2024? Of course we want Hive to grow, but what are you doing to make that happen?

My goal was to hit 75K HP, but I don't think I am going to make it unfortunately. I was really hoping I would be closer than this. I think some projects popped up that kept me from fully getting there.
I get that there are lots of things besides HP to get into and some may pay more, but that is the core of Hive. I hope you can keep building up anyway.

It was always hard to predict but it seems 2024 will be massive for cryptosphere from the various aspects.
Good and bad. Developments, regulations, general economic sentiment and situation, various elections, de-dolarization.
Exciting but also dangerous and unpredictable times.
Music was always the great escape, and there are many cool artists around that help us with placing our focus on nice things.I try to do my part in spreading bit of voice about them around.

It's inevitable and it will grow if and when Hive gains value. People are always after an easy buck. We need people to care about that.
I wish more looked for abuse. It would normalise it.
What's Beem? I haven't heard of it before. I read in the post you linked that they said something about scripts, is it a tool that you use to make your britlist posts?
I went onto the guy's profile, he seems to have made some okay money about 5 years ago, then he got downvotes and the posts stopped. Also, the comments all seem to be upvoted by a new account with a fair bit of Hive delegated to them.
As for goals, I'm expecting to surpass 10k HP this side of the new year, I'm just waiting currently to talk to a man about a dog. Also, I'm 23 days away from getting the yearly badge for posting every day this year, and with that, I'll be cutting my posting down to 3-5 a week, and focusing more on curation, and editing the stuff I've written.

I was thinking of you today as I was having a bit of a jam. In the new year, I'm going to start up my bass videos again, and I was thinking of maybe sending you the bass track on its own if you'd like to jam along to it and see what happens. Maybe try to get some others involved and do a Hive jam thing, where the song gets built up and added to as it goes along. Might be some fun, and that's something that I'd like to get going in the new year if it's possible.

beem is a set of functions to access all aspects of Hive. I use it for Britlist stuff as well as the bot I wrote. The guy who originally developed it has left. It will need updating for the latest state of the blockchain.
There will always be people who try to cheat the system, but we have folk who will look out for them. A lot of suspicious behaviour can be detected. I expect some use beem to do that. You could look for people who only get votes from one account.
You have been really consistent and I hope it's still fun. Hope you guys get over your colds.
I could be up for more collaboration. My drumming is coming along and I have access to drum tab for loads of songs. I may be able to do some guitar too. Will be busy for the next few weeks anyway.

Yeah man I'm pretty flat out too up until after Christmas, but it would be a lot of fun to do something like that. I could even cut the videos together as a little music video type thing using the footage, maybe even post the stuff outside of Hive too, to gain some more eyes.
We recently added a couple more songs to the setlist, Whenever, Wherever, Message In A Bottle, and Wicked Game.
We can compare setlists, and see if there are a few crossovers that we'd each be happy to jam to.
Also, yeah still finding it as fun as ever. Still loving it.

Meet ups sound a good idea, there was supposed to meet a local meet in summer, as far as I can tell it never happened - as we're well up North not as far as @meesterboom mind - meets are few and far between and we've not ventured to the big smoke for a while, for obvious reasons, keep us posted, we'll make it to @hivefest one day :)
We have a fair few people in the north of you look on the #BritList. They may just be scattered around. Maybe you can combine one with a road trip.

It is odd that hive does not follow bitcoin. I thought that Bitcoin would raise most all crypto boats.
