Sweating to get a dopamine hit.
Working out today was a good thing for me especially when I fasted. With no food in my gut and all my body ripping into itself the workout turned out to be efficient. I like to think I am getting stronger and building out my body. I looked at a body type picture showing five different built body types and I want to get the athletic build. Not to big but built enough to to allow for me to have functional body size.
Mobility is a big thing for me, I hate having a tight part in any part of my body especially when I wake up in the morning. I have to d some stretches to my spine. I don't go hardcore with the stretch but it is enough to say to myself and my body will be stretched and give it mobility. That tightness in the muscles I do not mind, it is the joint like stiffness I truly try to get rid of.
I injured my right elbow more than ten years ago when one student in our dojo blew out my elbow while defending against me attacking them. It was their grading and the were hyper excited and lost control with their defense. I was going hard to myself that I just popped the arm into place but unbeknownst to me I had actually forced my elbow into a position where it was not put in properly. Oh well lesson learned, still to this day even after surgery I am very stiff there and there is a constant tennis elbow like pain there all the time. I just use mind over matter and ignore it and continue to work out my right arm as if it is 100 percent.
I can feel it being weaker than my left arm though, and I am forced to force it to work ten times harder in the goal of strengthening the right elbow joint ad muscles surrounding it. Sometimes a sharp pain comes as I am on the downward release of weights, it always reminds me to take my time and not go hard core. I miss going all out and sometimes I can do it when I have warmed up my body sufficiently with my brain in full control of ignoring any discomforting I am feeling. I can only achieve this when I have worked out for more than two hours straight.
Aging is playing a factor in my work out too because I feel like my old stamina is not there. It could be and probably is because for the last two years prior I got very lazy, Covid played a large factor in this since I had to stop going to class and working out was well below my priority. I prioritized drinking over lifting weights and what ever I wanted to do as a workout routine.
It is frustrating to do pull ups these days, I used to be able to do thirty pull up none stop in one set, now I am relegated to doing a max of eight in the first set and then my elbows play up and I am forced to do three repetitions every set I do which makes doing thirty a long affair.
It's ok though I know with consistent work I will get to a level where I am going to be able to do the level of pull ups I once was able to do in the past.
Time and effort. The only constant I am really giving it as a goal to get where I want to get to. I know it will get there where I can be comfortable again and be able to push harder. I just have to watch out I don't go too hardcore and get injured then have to take a two step back from my forward progress.
Well I best leave this here.
Cheers for you time.

Best wishes to you for moving forward with your goals and getting back to doing the exercises you did before. I know very well what it is like to have reduced mobility in some part of the body. I believe in what you say about the mind dominating the body, however, I still have not been able to attenuate the great discomfort I feel and it is difficult to ignore, even so I still believe that it is possible to recover 100% and I hope to achieve it.
Thanks, I did leg day today. It was good work out. Now my legs are feeling the burn
The bodies certainly don’t age well sometimes lol. I’ve been there man! We just have to adjust and do different things. I’m with you though, I don’t want to get jacked up like Arnold but if I could be a good weight with some lean muscle then I’m happy. What’s killed my workouts is not being able to just up and go to the gym. I stopped when my son was born and it’s been a painful loss but eventually I know I’ll get back there and into it again.
I love working out on an empty stomach! It’s the best because that’s quite normal historically for humans. These days people are consuming way too much shit for working out. Get the vitamins and minerals in a powder or something and workout then just eat well afterwards.
My best weight and strength is when I was working out on an empty stomach and finishing classes and not eating until well after lunch. Those were the days!
Yes lean and mean. Not bulked up and slow. Yeah empty stomach is the way to go, o feel lighter and hungry for a harder workout. Am sure when the time comes you'll be working out.
