Welcome back to my guest post. Today I am going to tell you about my horrible crypto experience, and how I brewed up a $10k crypto portfolio that I accumulated in over 3 years.

I feel pain whenever I think about how all this transpired with me back in the year 2022, at the peak of the bull run in that year. Perhaps you would be asking yourself how I came to have a $10k crypto portfolio to start with. Did I buy it? Get it through airdrops? Earned it by grinding or did someone give it to me?

Well, I started my crypto adventure in September 2019 when I started blogging on read.cash, a writing platform where authors are able to earn BCH. Though I have a certain level of knowledge about crypto before that time, it was my first time to get deeply involved in crypto and everything about Blockchain and decentralized finance.

Being a writer and author at read.cash exposed me to a vast body of knowledge when it comes to crypto and Blockchain and the opportunities within. I worked hard to become one of the top writers and earners on the site. Unlike most social blogging platforms, there were people who actually value good content, and would willingly give a good amount of crypto upvotes to them. I was lucky enough to find such people who made me a regular reader of my posts. In most instances, some of my posts generated more than 3 BCH in a single day, and that was when BCH price was around $600

Besides, as being one of the top writers and top earners on the platform. The least that I was earning on my post on a regular day was $13 to $15 in BCH. In a month, even without getting a special tip, my earnings was around $400 in BCH. I also had a real-life job at the time, so I do not get to convert crypto to spending.

Luck was also with me at the time, and in a matter of a couple of months, I had collected about $3k worth of BCH, and that's when I began to put money into some defi projects. It was a smart move at the time since such projects were just starting to appear. I went all-in on the new chain (smartBCH) putting my precious crypto into every new project that came up. All the projects either proved to be a rug pull or were dead on arrival.

I got just one project that was a Dex token which brought me real profits. I was lucky enough to be able to take part in the presale of the token where I invested 4 BCH. Staking was provided as soon as the token launched, and I staked my tokens and kept compounding every day. Within 2 weeks my 4 BCH has turned into 6 BCH. I enjoyed it so much and continue compounding my returns every day.

I was so careful with this investment because I lost money in previous experiments. Every time I see a sign of dumping, I quickly swapped my tokens to stablecoins and buy them back when it actually dumped. That way, I was able to grow my portfolio to $10k within 5 months.

I didn't want to invest in anything, but instead was looking for the next germ of a project to put my money into. And then there came a new dex on the smartBCH blockchain with a token launch. I was confident by experience with my last Dex investment that I was definitely going to make a Lambo from the new investment.

To everyone's shock, the project did not stand up as anticipated. Tokens started dumping within a few minutes after the start. It was a good meal for most people, where the majority of them get an opportunity to buy before other people. And those first-time investors started dumping as soon as the project begin to pick up..

It was disheartening to see my $5k dropped to around $1.5k before my very eyes within minutes. I was hoping for a bounce but instead, the token kept going down and I lost all my investment within 2 days. The token never bounced back, I could only get back $150 from my $5k investment. It was disheartening to see my money waste away. range 1- 11

And as if all that wasn't bad enough, I went and invested again in another new project which just happens to be the last straw that breaks the Camel's back. This one was the largest rug pull I've ever witnessed. The 3 BCH I invested were as good as gone in a matter of minutes. I was so angry that I had to take a break from investing in shit tokens.

And then the NFT craze began, and I thought I'd try it out. I invested the remaining crypto in some NFT projects, and they did not do any better. The EVM chain smartBCH had a problem with their bridge which led to a collapse of almost all the projects on the chain. I never had a chance to sell any piece of the NFTs I bought. That is how my $10k portfolio was wasted.

Four years have gone by since then and every time I remember, I feel sorry for myself. I still could remember that feeling that I had back then every time I looked into my wallet, but all those are now behind me.

It's virtually impossible today to start building a crypto portfolio from scratch, and there is never such opportunity to earn crypto so freely from creating content. Had I known about Hive at the time, I would have probably rolled over the funds instead and invested in HIVE HP to keep earning curation rewards.

The experience was a learning curve, and I have learned from my errors and commit never to be moved by greed and hype.
