Today I want to share with you a somewhat amusing and tragic story about graffiti.

InShot_20250708_132338498.gif

This bombing, which you can see in the following photograph, was done about a year ago in a very dangerous area of the town where I live. Today, on my way home, I had to take a different route because there were some police operations that I preferred to avoid, so I took another route and found this graffiti.

As I said before, this was done about a year ago, at night, with a couple of friends, but the funny thing is that after painting on this wall, which belongs to a truck repair shop, a place where they repair and work with heavy machinery.

It took me about 40 seconds to do this bombing, but when we finished and continued on our way, we noticed a truck coming up behind us with its lights off and driving very slowly. That's when we realized that something strange was happening, so we crossed the street to the other sidewalk. We hadn't finished crossing when the truck accelerated and turned on its lights. I can't deny that this put us on alert, but the real scare came when the truck stopped right next to us and three armed men got out, pointing their guns at my friends and me. At that moment, we thought it was a robbery, and one of my friends shouted, "We don't have anything here!" One of the men quickly hit him and pushed him toward the truck while pointing his gun at us. They forced us into the truck, and I thought about running, but it was too late.

  • To our surprise, these men were workers from the workshop where I had done the graffiti, and they took us to the workshop, where the gates were open as if they were waiting for us.

There we realized that the danger was real. When they made us get out of the truck, a fat, burly man approached us, apparently the owner of the place.

They asked us why we had done the graffiti and which criminal gang we belonged to. All this upset us quite a bit, and we started an argument, but we were all crouching down while they pointed their guns at us. You can imagine the scene. Obviously, we were a little scared, but I quickly stood up and, with my hands raised, asked him to please calm down, that this was all a misunderstanding.

I explained that I had no reason to do that, that I simply did it because it's a very large wall and it's an area with very little traffic. After that, I explained what graffiti means and what my name means. This took a few minutes while they continued to point their guns at me, until suddenly the fat man I mentioned smiled. He understood that we weren't a criminal gang and that we were simply creating a different kind of art.

This experience reminded me that graffiti is graffiti and that it is not well regarded by many people, but what really surprised me was that the man had thought that I had marked the place with spray paint as a symbol so that I could then go and rob it, as if I were part of a criminal gang. It's funny, but at the same time I was scared that they were going to kill us for doing graffiti.

Today, I remembered this when I saw the wall, which still has FONE's mark on it.

Here's how I made that GIF image. Remember that I offer my design services for HIVE. Don't just share your content, bro. MAKE AN IMPACT!

First and foremost, I took the image I took when I was walking by. Believe me, for a moment I was a little scared because I remembered that time when we were practically kidnapped by these guys, and I wondered what would happen if they saw me taking a picture of the wall. But I know that kind of thing won't happen again and that the guys understood very well that we were just doing some art and having fun. and that this had nothing to do with crime. But after seeing the explanation, I took the main image and used the app to crop the background, leaving only the letters. Then I added a negative effect to make it a little darker with a black background. From there, I moved it to the video editor, where I simply put one image over the other with a smooth transition effect, creating a somewhat dynamic GIF.

That's all for now. I hope you like this story, because I have more than 1,000 stories like this to tell and similar things. That's where I can remember that sometimes we see the funny side of tragedy, ha ha ha.

Shiiit! That could have had a very different outcome if the owner didn't believe you when you explained it.
Have you talked with the owner since then, @fonestreet? 😆

Well done on the GIF. If I find myself having time I'll be trying that later 😁
