We have all been reminded sometime or other, that you have to live life as if you are going to live up to 100. But, most of us may not live to that age, so now it is time to do what you have to do so you don't have anything to regret later on.

These are five (5) things you must do to avoid regret in your golden years:

1. Starting a family business

Having a family business can bring more benefits in the long run compared to having a regular job. It can be the cornerstone of your personal, social and financial growth. But above all, it will provide for you and your family once you retire.

Surely, that is not to say you're going to have a family business and get the children to provide the support. Instead, get a good measure of what your children need, and create a business plan that's suitable to what they need. And when a decision has to be made, give them a decision-making experience so they'll be part of the decision-making process.

The idea is that you are basically owing the business to them until retirement. This business undertaking, if properly executed, will surely change the life of your family for the better. I have this one on my bucket list, I even started a business that has been doing well for some time now.

But now that I am in my 40s, I should really make an effort to build a family business and have my wife and children help me run it.

And also teach the kids the basics of business and entrepreneurship. My children should be proud that their father made it for himself.

1. Living Healthy lifestyle

This is something of the highest priority that we can do in order to live longer. We know that exercise and diet is one of the cheapest and simplest ways in which to live longer. By maintaining our bodies in shape, we will feel a lot more energy and be capable of exercising more. As you age, you will have more time and energy to devote to the things that you enjoy. This is one part of my life where I am concentrating a lot these days.

I am being very careful with food and exercise. It may be difficult, but anything can happen.

When you first exercise, there is an adjustment period. But if you have the habit at the right time, then you will discover you are full of energy and can exercise on a daily basis. I find it helpful to have small and reasonable goals, run a mile a day or go for a walk, which you can manage.

1. Save for retirement

This is something that is quite scary, and extremely personal. We don't talk much about planning for retirement. Most of us have heard someone say that you should save during your younger years, and then slow down saving when you get older. In this way, you would have enough money when you get older.

This is just another reason why living life the way that we have always envisioned is a good thing. It may happen that, in doing what you want with your life, your financial situation could change and you would need to change the way that you approach planning for your money.

I am not saying that you should completely change your investing strategy, but at least you should reduce the amount of risk in your investments. It's not that I know how much I will have when I retire, but having enough money in a safe place beyond the reach of the needs of today and being financially able to retire are the two most important things to me. range 10-20

In the end, we need to be in a position where we can honestly say that we have lived to the maximum extent.

So it is advisable to avoid getting yourself into things which you can bypass for the meantime.

If not, you'll regret later and you cannot really enjoy the kind of life which you deserve.

1. Buy or build your own home early

And now this is a very controversial topic, but when it comes to life, there are only two things that matter. The first is what you're doing with your life. You don't require money to be happy, but you must have a life that you love and you can be proud of. And two is if you own a house or not.

I started building my own house three years back. Although I may not be living in the house anytime soon, I would not allow the luxury of being sponsored by my company to blur my thinking from building my house as fast as possible. I have been living in rented flats for years now due to work deployment and frequent postings.

But, one of the best things about having your own home earlier is that you can afford to take better care of your family, especially if your children are not yet in school, and they do not need much extra spending from you before the house is completed. Owning your own home is also one of the best investments that you can have in your life, so do not procrastinate with it.

1. Invest on yourself and your family

Invest in yourself and your family, not that you should buy a Mercedes Benz or anything.

I mean you must take care of your health, your children, and even your parents.

Even though you cannot avoid them dying if you take care of them, you can reduce the level of their pain.

The earlier you take care of yourself, the better for you in the future.

The benefits of investing in yourself and people you care for can come in different ways.

Your body can be your best investment provided you treat your body nicely. The more well you take care of yourself physically, the healthier you live long, the sharper you function and excel at whatever you are into.

Your children and family are your other investments. They are priceless compared to all the things of the world and they deserve your full attention, love, and respect. Investment in you and your family will not only turn you into a good son/daughter, husband/wife, and father/mother, but also make you a model to your child to follow you.

If you are financially secure, financially sound, and you can afford to provide them with their wants as well as their needs, your child's upbringing will surely be successful. Your partner will most likely do his or her best for you because he knows that he or she will be financially well-off if anything goes wrong. Acquire this knowledge and save your future.
