The Nigeria List: June 2024
Introduction
I have been compiling lists of Hivers in various countries using @hivesql. The profile location data is not very consistent, but I try to group people by area when there are a few. There may be some mistakes due to my lack of local knowledge.
I had some requests to do Nigeria, so here it is.
Other Countries
Currently there are lists like this for:
Commentary
Nigeria has one of the largest populations of Hivers, possibly only second to Venezuela. This encouraged me to optimise my query scripts to do some of the work for me in formatting the file I produce.
There were some obvious areas to group by, but please do not be offended if I put you in the wrong place. I can update the file, but I will make it available on Github for anyone to download and update. I am sure someone could run my Python code, so I am happy for the community to take over this task. I am looking to do some other countries to get them started.
The Nigerian numbers are impressive. I looked up accounts that have been active in the last year, but they only show as active here if they posted or voted in the last month. We need to encourage people to keep coming back.
A lot of people have joined in the last few months, so it looks like recruitment is going well.
I did not find any Nigerian witnesses.

Yeah, there are no Nigerian witnesses yet, but I hope to become one. Not sure if I really have what it takes to be one at the moment.
I am sure others would help you out with it. We need witnesses everywhere to represent their communities.

wao, this is great, I commend your effort in doing this
Awesome, this was fast I wasn't expecting to see this list so soon.
I never knew there were this many of us in the hive. Hopefully, some of those inactive members can be active again.
Well it didn't take me too long after I improved my scripts a bit.
Now you know who is inactive and needs prompting to return. Good luck in building up the community. I hope you can work with others on this.

Thank you very much for this, I will reach out to some others and see what we can do.
Cool data. Thanks for the great job. Never knew we have such a large crowd.
Dey play. We plenty na😅
No be joke Baba. We full ground for hive oooo
Nigerian numbers is always impressive🔥
"My brother na we get am,
Men mount "🙌
Thanks for the mention 👊🏿
You go picked up by the query :) I hope it's useful.
Wow
Great job compiling this list
Wonderful effort, excellent creativity, and proficient use of tools.
I am yet to even find my name, but I got mentioned somehow.. Lol.
"Nigeria we hail thee"
You are in the 'somewhere' section.
Lol.. I ve been moving around lately.. That explains it😅😅😅
A table would have helped, but this is really cool.
I am wondering what we can make from of this, ..a hiver-near-me group kinda thing?
Anyone can use the data as they want. You can download the source data if that is easier to use.
Thank you for the mention.
I am happy to see nigerians succeed in this blockchain despite the harsh government policies surrounding our usage of any crypto related platform.
The Nigerian government frowns at anything pertaining to cryptocurrency to the extent that they now freeze the bank accounts of crypto traders.
However, I must express my satisfaction with the listed growing number of hive users among nigerians.
It shows that decentralization has it's own way of thriving in the midst of harsh/centralized policies.
I am hopeful that tomorrow will be better for those of us who still believe in this era of cryptocurrency and its unstoppable impact in our intellectual and financial growth.
Long live Nigeria
Long Live Hive.
Long Live Cryptocurrency.
Glad to have my username in there ☺️
Great effort buddy

This is a very good one.
This is a great job you did here, well done.
I found myself in the wrong location: "Somewhere in Nigeria" under the posting list. The right location is Lagos.
Thanks for putting this together. Hopefully, there will be a witness from Nigeria soon.
If you don't add Lagos on your profile you will show up as somewhere in Nigeria. The output of any report is only as good as the input.
Oh! I get it now. Thanks.
I can update the list, but I won't generate this post again for a while. I just go by what is on your profile.
Alright, understood. Thanks so much.
This is such an interesting list, nice to see many Nigerians on hive, which really shows I'm not alone here lol, my brothers are here 😌.
This must have took a lot of effort from you to compile...you do a great job in these lists, keep it up! ❤️
This is super interesting. I’m excited about my journey so far and thank you for taking out time to compile this list. It truly shows the Nigerian spirit-just sheer resilience. I’m glad I’m contributing while learning and growing with all in the ecosystem
I will say, you are doing a great job. And I hope you find more witness. We are always available to work though. Weldon and good luck 🤞
Such an a big community, they could easily contribute so much to Hive if they wanted to.
I think some of them do, but there's always ways to improve.
Perhaps you can be more clear about "contribution"?
You get more out of Hive if you help build things. I do these lists and have organised some meetups. @livinguktaiwan has worked on projects like @pinmapple. Just posting to earn for yourself is not enough. You should talk to other Nigerians to see what you can do to make Hive more successful.
I used to run a Nigerian community (stemng, a sub community of stemsocial) in the days of steemit. We did meetups and we had long-term plans. However, the economic situation of the country has made many to venture into something else that takes up a bulk of their time.
None of the members of the community is currently active. It is easier to build things when your worries are beyond looking for where your next meal will come from. I sometimes become frustrated and angry with myself when powering down my stake is the only option I have left to sort out real-life expenses. But hey, at least, I've got something to resort to.
Nigeria has a really big crypto community and bitcoin whales. I had plans to take hive to them at some point after I had toured many universities around here. I can go on and on actually.
It sounds like you have done more than most. I do know what it is like to try and keep people active here. Hundreds of Brits are inactive. I do okay on Hive, but it's also fun for me and that matters.
I get that people will have more pressing things to worry about. Hive just offers opportunities that we can take if we want.
I am frustrated by the corporate platforms and it amazes me that more crypto fans don't come here.
The fact that we are still means there's still hope. I'm not giving up. All it could take could be just for one person to discover this platform. I'm optimistic.
The fact that people are signing up in Nigeria is positive. I don't know what is driving that, but it could be worth someone investigating.
We can leverage our userbase to bring Hive's attention to the movers and shakers in the Nigerian cryptosphere.
I think what is driving that is the ongoing Vibes web3 music competition. I see a couple of Nigerians who are into music keying in. I hope they stick around after when the competition is over.
Vibes is bringing people to Hive, but we always had issues with keeping them active. We need to do more to fix that.
Very correct. I attended one at Ibadan then. Things will still take shape
This is amazing, I am just getting know how we are on hive. We have really got what it takes...
Thank you so @steevc, you've really put in much effort to have compiled this
Thank you for recognizing me
I just read the data. It is up to you to gain recognition :)
Thanks for the mention i really appreciate 🙏
This is quite impressive
I'm glad I was mentioned, nice data collation.
Thanks for the mention. I really appreciate.
Wow, Thank You Sir for the Mention sir, i did not know we were this Much sir. Its true there are no nigerian witness. I hope to be one of the witness sir.
I must commend this Collations sir, this ain’t a easy job but you did it for all of us sir.
We Appreciate this Effort Sir!!!
Maybe you can work with others to build this list. I don't have time to do it often.
How do I join them sir, on Building the List before the Next phase.
I don't know where Nigerians gather. Is there a Hive community or a Discord channel? Seek them out.
Ok Sir Thank You Sir, I will do that immediately sir.
Super calculative 😌
Wow, this figures are impressive, thanks @steevc , for putting such a great work together
This is awesome. I didnt know were this plenty on Hive.
Wow this is beautiful up Niagara
I think this is very good. Kudos to the creators
This is quite fascinating and I must commend the creators
Interesting to see
Never knew Nigeria has a large number of people on hive, we can really make a great impact if we work hard.
Im really happy to be part of the active members of the hive community.
This is really amazing
This is a great job done
I never imagined Nigeria is this much on the Blockchain but we have quite a number of inactive users though.
This is so unusual.. If Nigeria tops the chart on hive then they should consider the next hive festival in Nigeria
Maybe you guys can organise a local meetup first to see how many turn up. I don't think I've seen any local Hive meetups in Nigeria before.
Has anyone organised any events? The local community could do it and here you have a list of who might attend. I have organised meetups in the UK, so anyone can do it.
This is a real definition of hardwork and time sacrifice. Job well done, sir.
Nigerians no dey joke😎😎.
Wow this is so amazing, never knew any of this exists on the blockchain.
We are indeed much and I hope the inactive members become active again.
Kudos 👍
You really tried in compiling the list. And i recommend you for the great work
Interesting, i have to reblog this
Really! This is a good work. But you can organize the list better. I am posting from @revjohno Aba Abia State Nigeria.
How do you propose @steevc to make this better? You don't have your location on your profile
You don't really expect him to manually go through 500 accounts do you? The output is only as good as the input
As @livinguktaiwan says, I rely on profile location data and yours just says Nigeria. I have presented this as an initial list and I think the Nigerian community should work on improving it. They can use it as they like and I am just trying to help out.
Dang, I knew it was big but dang...
Wow Nigerians is highly visible here
This is a great compilation @steevc, I'm impressed by our number on Hive.
This is amazing and great job from you @steevc . Thanks for mentioning
We the Nigerian loves to explore.am happy to the here
That was a great job compiling this long list of Hivers that are Nigerians. Honestly our numbers are impressive and from my observations we are doing better. Weldon @steevc
Oh wow wow wow, there's even a somewhere section. This is so interesting to read. Well done
We used to have many Nigerian Dolphins, a few ocars, and about one or two whales. The economy has made many power down and diversify.
We do need more people to keep a stake, but at least Hive is helping them out.
This is wow
How on earth did you came up with this ? I'm impressed and couldn't have imagined we have so many hivers in Nigeria.
Expecting more from you.
Thanks for this
The data is all on the blockchain and there are ways to access it. As I said, the Nigerian community can work more on this.
I hope we can actually do that
But the power of Data base is given to the people in power , people like us needs to push a little bit hard. Regardless I'm pleased with your analysis
Would be interesting to see how many of these accounts have been around since the days of steemit, and how many of them are still active even here on hive.
I don't look that far back, but someone else could do that analysis with the data I provide. It's all on the blockchain.
I am still here o, from the days of steemit, just that I go on and off if something time consuming takes me away. Good to see many Nigerians still on hive
This took a whole effort from you.
I'm glad my people are here. 😃 And I hope the inactive ones become active again.
This took a whole effort from you.
I'm glad my people are here. 😃 And I hope the inactive ones become active again.
This is really impressive. But I can't find my name😭😭
You don't have a location on your profile, so how would I know where you are? Are you in Nigeria?
Nice one dear
Thank you for adding me it’s awesome
Seriously this is massive
Wow
I love this
This post is real work
I never knew we were this much on hive
Wow 9ja we no dey carry last lie lie ✌️✌️
Kudos to us abeg
I am glad I am amongst the active ones😁, we keep trying. Thanks for taken out time to compile this list.
This is awesome thanks for the hard work you put it🔥
wow! i can't imagine Nigerians are this much , you actually did a great work kudos to you
Maybe you can make some new friends in your area :)
Nice!
5 dolphins and 2 Orcas. I'd like to say hi. Any chance you could tell me who they are? I don't know how to use HiveSQL (yet).
Here you go:
This is the query:
Nice ❤️❤️❤️
Nice job. Keep up the good work...♥️🙌💯
Cheers, but why two comments?
Pardon me. I Wanted to say more after the first.
This is greatly appreciated...👍
Woah this is a great job Weldon, chai, Nigerians are great everywhere doing fabulous things. Yes,we are moving ahead and many are yet to join. Thank you so very much.
Who is this Weldon? People keep mentioning him.
😂😂👍, just appreciating you for this huge effort you put in place to make us know our abilities, thank you 🙏
Well-done 🙌 compiling the list
My Nigerian people no dey carry last
We mount!
Wow this is great, I'm new on HIVE I need help from lagos, badagry side I need someone to put me through
Maybe you can contact some of the people in Lagos to help you. There are a lot of Hivers there.
Ok,I will
Oh wow.. we are really much
I'm glad yo be here
This is a commendable list, can't even pretend to imagine how much time, effort and dedication this took. Good job. I've been pretty inactive lately myself, so I'm going to see this as a call to action and step up. Meanwhile, I'm in Kwara not Nasssrawa. Kudos for a job well done
You were seeing the location of somewhere else. I did most of this automatically as Hive is a database and I can query the locations on profiles. Yours only says Nigeria.
I want to see people build up their local community. You can contact people to organise something and this list gives you a start.
Nigeria is always on the podium.
Well-done guys keep it up!!!
Nice to see you do this compilation of Hivers in my country.
A good number of Nigerians are on Hive which is good but the problem is that most don't really fancy growing their accounts. They prefer withdrawing the little they have been earnings. Just a few understand this and strive to do it.
Some people really need the money and that's okay, but building a stake gives you more influence. We have to get that across.
Nice trend.
Wow! What a list.
I only check in here once in a while to read the fpl posts
Thank you for the mention. This must have taken a lot. Welldone
I like this, now i can actually connect with my fellows, If your in rivers state and your active leave a comment lets link up
You ought to leave some comments for people who may be near you. It's great to actually meet some Hivers.
It's been a while. Stopped posting cos I was no longer getting support via upvotes. I'm back now, hope the experience will be better.
I hope you can find some local people to build something with. It's not just about rewards.
I can't find my friend @nevies ! :)
Good point, but he didn't put a useful location on his profile. I've added him to the file for the next time I run the script. I probably won't do it as often as the BritList, but it's fairly quick to run.
I think he left Abuja and travelled south to where he is from.
I was looking at whether a Denmark list is worth doing, but there may be less than a dozen of you.
Maybe a Nordic list? We are used to be seen as a whole.
I could do that. About 75 across the Nordic countries active in the last month. Have you noticed a decrease?
No, not really. I am only recently back, and my overview is not that good right now. Many I remember has left, but also quite a few still here. As for Nordic people I'd say that most of them has gone. A few Finns are still here, but that's it.
I'll do the list some time soon. Maybe it will encourage more activity.
Cool ;)
I hope we to grow each other on hive communities since we are this much
I hope you can help the community grow.
Definitely
Hope we can post what ever we can post apart from in relevant post
I have been inactive for some time due to certain reasons but I'm fully back now. Thanks for the mention ☺️
Somewhere in Nigeria
Lol ,
Nasarawa state is an outskirts of Abuja...
Nice initiative...
To
Have been so busy with other things but hopefully about to finish up so I can be fully active
