FERROKA – The Arena of Power

In the brutal kingdom of Ferroka, where iron mountains and arid plains were swept by scorching winds, the law was simple: strength ruled above all. Here, the weak were crushed, the strong reigned, and loyalty was measured by the blood spilled. Kaelos Drak, the Warlord, sat at the peak of this ruthless hierarchy, his name synonymous with terror and power.

That day, like many before, Kaelos watched the battles from his high tribunal overlooking the arena. The burning sand was stained with blood, and the cries of warriors echoed under the heavy sky. Fights were a sacred tradition in Ferroka, a way to prove one’s worth and earn the Warlord’s favor. But today, something was wrong.

Down on the sand, warriors once thought invincible were falling one by one. These fighters, forged through years of battles and sacrifices, were being defeated by unknown opponents—new faces that had never proven themselves. These new champions were neither stronger nor faster, yet they always seemed to be one step ahead, as if they anticipated every move, every attack.

Kaelos, seated on his steel throne, clenched his fists until his knuckles cracked. His eyes, as cold as the metal of his weapons, landed on his right-hand man, a massive figure named Gorran.

— Who are these men? he asked, his voice rumbling like distant thunder.

Gorran, usually impassive, seemed uneasy. He lowered his gaze before answering.

— They come from the underground, Lord. From quarters where the law of Ferroka does not reach. They pay in SECRET and obtain weapons beyond our control.

Kaelos felt a slow-burning rage rise within him. SECRET. That cursed currency again. It had infiltrated his lands, corrupted his warriors, and now, it threatened his authority.

— And how is that possible?! he roared, slamming the armrest of his throne with such force that the structure trembled.

An awkward silence settled, heavy as a blade hanging in the air. Gorran did not reply, but his expression said enough. Kaelos understood the truth: weapons merchants from his own camp had betrayed him, preferring SECRET over Ferroka’s credits. They had opened the gates to forbidden arms and technologies, undermining the order he had built with so much blood.

The Warlord rose slowly, his imposing silhouette casting a menacing shadow over the arena. The battles ceased instantly, warriors looking up at their master, sensing the storm brewing.

— Find them, Kaelos commanded, his icy voice carrying to the farthest rows of the arena. And bring me their heads.

Gorran nodded, but before he could leave, Kaelos added, lower this time, yet with an intensity that sent chills through everyone who heard it:

— And if you fail, Gorran, your head will join theirs.

The warriors of Ferroka scattered, obeying their lord’s decree. But Kaelos knew this betrayal was only the visible part of a far greater problem. SECRET had infiltrated his kingdom, and its roots ran deep.

As the setting sun painted the sky in blood-red hues, Kaelos remained standing on his tribune, his eyes fixed on the horizon. He knew the battle to come would not only be fought on the sands of the arena but in the shadows of his own camp. And he was prepared to do whatever it took to crush this threat—even if it meant burning Ferroka to its very foundations.

For in the kingdom of Ferroka, strength was the only law. And Kaelos Drak was determined to uphold it, no matter the cost.

Gorran, habituellement impassible, semblait mal à l’aise.
