Same! I'm not a fan of flying, so I looked into taking Amtrak. I would leave on Sunday and arrive on Wednesday. Which would be okay, but the route is odd. From Texas to Illinois to Washington DC to Orlando in the middle of winter. Um....no thank you.

Right. Chicago is an Amtrak hub.

It might take less time on Greyhound. Or, in the same amount of time, you can bus to Destin, spend the night, and then ride again the next day.

Bus travel for that length of time is not ideal. The beauty of train travel is the space, dining car, bar car, observatory car, and the ability to walk around or sit and work away. Air travel is no fun these days, but it is faster. So there's that.

You can work on a train. I think they have receptacles at each seat these days. It may just pay for itself in productivity.

I found an alternative route which avoids Chicago. I can go to New Orleans. Then from New Orleans to Alexandria, VA then to Orlando. Not less expensive though. Travel by train is longer and more expensive. Which is probably why more folks don't rely on this for business travel. I'll admit, even with these negatives I am still not counting train travel out. I have a few months to plan.
