Teriyaki Salmon Donburi + Krispy Kreme Donuts - a tasty Japanese meal and sweet pasalubong

Hello, hello, hello, foodies! What’s your craving for today?

It’s been raining hard lately; and if I could, I wouldn’t want to go out. Today though, I had no choice. I had some errands to run and so I went to Eastwood. It’s one of the business districts in Quezon City.

When I finished what I was purposely there for, I felt hungry. I looked for a place to eat and saw a Japanese restaurant named Ramen Kuroda. The place is not that busy but there were some customers enjoying their meals. I thought it’s a perfect spot to enjoy my lunch. So, I went in. I noticed that they put a note on each table asking customers to advise them if they have any food allergies. To me, this is a sign that they truly value their patrons. What a thoughtful gesture!

They mainly serve ramen - Japanese noodles with lots of other toppings such as meat (chicken and pork + veggies & other herbs and spices). You can opt to have your ramen spicy or not. They also offer teriyaki donburi - teriyaki is a type of Japanese cooking technique and sauce that has become popular all around the world. Here, you have an option to either broil or grill the meat or fish and dip it in a sweet soy-based glaze sauce. Donburi, on the other hand, is simply a rice meal in a bowl.

Upon checking the menu, and since I love fish (part of my pescetarian diet), I ordered Teriyaki Salmon Donburi. As you can see in the picture, just a bowl of it is enough to fill my hungry tummy. The sauce is a bit sweet but just adequate to tease your taste bud. The salmon topped with seaweeds and sesame seeds blended well with the fish and rice. It’s a 10/10 for me. To add a refreshing feel, I ordered a glass of watermelon shake. The meal did not disappoint, just as I imagined. It was delectable. (Yum!)
As expected, I finished the whole bowl and the watermelon shake. I was satisfied.

Now, there’s one thing left to do - to buy pasalubong, meaning, I have to find something to take home to my family.

I looked around and found Krispy Kreme - a donut store, it’s popular in my country. Without hesitation, I went inside and ordered a dozen of their mixed donuts (6 honey-glazed and 6 assorted - New-York’s cheesecake filled, chocolate sprinkles, etc.)

Once done, I went home feeling excited. I knew they would love my pasalubong.
And sure thing, they loved it. And I guess the photos below were evident that my mom and aunt truly enjoyed the pasalubong.

What a delightful afternoon for all of us!

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed your meal as much as I did. Happy eating!
