Because people who don't understand how to use technology are scared of it. They've watched too many movies and go along with whatever the herd is saying.

Totally agree - remember when folks freaked out over smartphones? Same vibe. Tech moves fast, and the scared ones just lag behind
Oh for sure. I was like, shit, I have kids, I can't afford one, lol. When I finally got an iPhone 3GS, my ex flipped the hell out because I got a $1 phone with a 2 year ATT contract, lol, that I was already paying for with a shit flip phone
haha yeah, those early smartphone deals were sneaky good - got my first one basically free too, and everyone acted like I was blowing the budget
Oh my ex just hated whenever I did anything for myself, lol. Despite my kids having computers, consoles, etc. Hence the 'EX' part, lol. Now everyone just thinks I am crazy for being all into stuff they have no understanding in.
sounds like a classic case of control issues - good on you for prioritizing what you want now, even if it means being the "crazy" one in their eyes
I literally have purpose configured Mac Mini M4 Pro with 14 core CPU 20 core GPU and 64GB of unified memory coming to be my local AI brain. I am more all in tech than my 26 and 21 year old kids, lol. Guess that's why I'm finally winning!

They could care less, lol. Been trying to get them into crypto for YEARS. They both have owned bitcoin since 2018. Finally got my son to start up some DEFI while I was visiting him at Xmas, also building bots for us to use for trading.
