Nice dedication going out for a run in the snow and ice. At least it had started to melt some before you went out for a jog. How do you avoid slipping in those icy conditions? When I used to live in snow country I used to break out the combat boots, not only did they keep for feet warm and dry, but great traction too! lol
That's a great idea to break in those shoes if you're planning on using them for a marathon. How are your trail shoes different than your run of the mill running shoes?

Easiest to avoid slipping is to shorten your steps and keep your posture a little more upright compared to normal. Most of the times that does the trick! (Also the extra grip on the trail shoes make it easier!)
