Just had to smile a bit while I was reading this as it reminded me of a program we have in Canada that I kept trying to get my sons to go into.
In Canada we have the ROTC (Registered Officer Training Program). Quick version is that in the final year of high school students can apply to work for the Armed Forces as an officer. They agree to train with the forces every summer and work hard at University to get a degree. For every year you study you are obligated to work for the Government for a year after graduation. Guaranteed income while you study. Food, Housing and education paid for while you study. Guaranteed job with fair wage after you graduate.
Sounded like a great idea to me.
Both of my sons said they didn't want to follow that path.
However, it did sound like what you had hoped for. Help with education and guaranteed job at the end :)
Wow, if there was such program down here, many people wouldn't hesitate to seize the opportunity. In the case of your sons, I respect their decisions, not everyone wants to be in the military hehhe.
Thanks for stopping by sir 🥰
I think it is pretty smart on the governments part. Get the best and brightest from high school. Make sure they get the best training an a good job/wage. Ensures we get quality soldiers (hopefully)
