I agree with you, wooden sculptures are becoming rare. Maybe all the sculptures are becoming rare. My hubby @paolobeneforti started his way on art (around 30 years ago) like a sculptor and along the time he sculpted different materials (especially marbles and other rocks), but sculpting is really a very long process (more then painting) and so artists who lives thanks their art prefer to work on paintings and just sometimes on sculptures. Another note is that there are more paintings collectors than sculptures collectors and this is another thing that makes the difference when you have to invest time doing this work. ❤️

I fully agree with you. Sculpting is not easy and also sculptures are not so easy to sell either, due to their size as well, but there are other reasons too.

I have a sculptor family friend and know how much trouble is to get the right wood and prepare it as you can't just go buy it from the store, like canvas and paint.
