New Day, New Story: Found a Cheap but Newly Harvested Sweet Potato on the Road and Making Pork Stew with Potato and Sweet Potato For Lunch

We're headed to the market to buy fish for our lunch when we pass by this house. Mama saw a bunch of sweet potatoes lying on the ground. The sweet potatoes look like they were just harvested yesterday. Luckily we saw a person in there cleaning and removing the dirt on each sweet potato. Mama asked the old woman if she was selling them, and she said yes. So Mama asked again how much. She said it's 20 pesos ($0.35) per kilo. When I heard it, I got excited because, man, that's so cheap. They're really expensive in the market, the price ranges from 70 to 50 pesos per kilo ($1.23-$0.88). So we grabbed the opportunity, and we bought 2 kilos each.

The old woman is actually in the middle of cleaning the sweet potato, but we chose the ones that is not cleaned yet, haha. We take our time choosing the sweet potatoes ♪ \(^ω^\ )

Here's the two kilos of sweet potato, this will be a good snacks for days for us. I might just boil some of this, but still depends on what I crave for the day. I also want to make that sweet potato fries style or the camote cue, been a long time since I last made this. We can't eat much of this because sweet potato's really expensive. We just got lucky with this finds today.

But for today, I just thought of something, like, sweet potato can go well too in some stew no? I used the canned ground pork though, this is what I decided to use instead of the real pork, that one super expensive right now, 1 kilo cost 460, aigoooo.

By the way, we also bought fish for lunch, and I just fry it after cleaning and removing all its organs.

So here's the main ingredients of today's lunch recipe, simple and in point no? Just two potato, 2 small sweet potato and 150G of ground pork in a can. Of course we'll need onion, garlic, pepper, some seasoning and a pinch of salt here

So cooking time, I just sauteed together the garlic and onion after stirring it for few seconds I put next the canned ground pork.

We'll mix it a little then we'll put a cup of water. After pouring the water, I also added here the salt, pepper a pinch of salt and that special seasoning.

I put the potatoes and sweet potatoes together, well according to Mommy D, I should just add them together haha. So I just follow her. Lol. Which one of them soften faster anyways? Do you have idea? UwU

So I cook this until the potatoes soften, I had to add some more water in it to soften the potatoes. Ah, I also had ro move this in a casserole because the pan we have has no available cover.

And done, look at that, so thick, because of the natural starch the potato has, its soup become thicker. Yum, yum!

There it is, the taste's okay. And because the sweet potato is naturally sweet, it actually give a good taste to the dish. I like it. The okdies like it, actually they eat more of this, and less rice. Same as me. Ehe. But what should I call this? Pork and Sweet Potato Stew? But where's the Potato? Ahh, Pork, Potato, and Sweet Potato Stew? It sounds (〒﹏〒). Anyways, it's a dish, let's just call it a dish ƪ(‾.‾“)┐

It was adorable and compassionate of you to choose the not so clean sweet potato over the cleaner one only because Ate had already separated it. Even in such a small way, you helped significantly to reducing her workload. And by cooking the real potato with corned beef, you made it even healthier it's lovely that you took an effort to do something simple but significant.Little gestures like this show your care and thoughtfulness.
