Wish You Were Here is the ninth studio album by English Rock band Pink Floyd. The album was released on 12 September 1975 through Harvest Records in the UK and Columbia Records in the US. The album was produced by Pink Floyd. Based on material composed by Pink Floyd while performing in Europe, Wish You Were Here was recorded at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London between January 13 and July 28, 1975.

The album's lyrical themes concern alienation and criticism of the music industry. And the bulk of the album is taken up by "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", a nine-part tribute to founding member Syd Barrett, who left the band seven years ago due to his deteriorating mental health. Guest singers included Roy Harper, who provided lead vocals on "Have a Cigar" and Venetta Fields, who added backing vocals to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond.". Although Wish You Were Here received mixed reviews upon its initial release from critics who found its music uninspiring and inferior to the band's previous work, it has retrospectively received critical acclaim, being hailed as one of the best albums of all time and one of the band's best works.

​In my opinion, ""Wish You Were Here"" is Pink Floyd's best album and ""Wish You Were Here"", which also has the same name as the album, is their best song. Or I could say they are my favorites.

"Wish You Were Here" combines Roger Waters' mournful lyrics against David Gilmour's dynamic arpeggio and emerges as a wonderful work. "Wish You Were Here" is a true masterpiece, one of the best songs ever written.
