Weekly Running Update - Back to 'normal' ish!

avatar

Last week was the first time in getting on for 3 years that I've done three 'proper' weekly runs in the UK I think, so it feels like I'm getting back to normal!

  • Run 1 - not so fast 5K
  • Run 2 - intervals - 5.5K
  • Run 3 - building up to a long run - 8K

Tuesday - not so fast 5K

As I've mentioned before I only try to beat my recent record once every two weeks, so this was just a fast-ish run....

I was feeling a bit knackered after a weekend away, so just as well, and I was actually pleasantly surprised to end up with a 4.40 pace after all!

Thursday - intervals...

These were the same as usual - nothing faster than usual, no records, but I managed 3 fast-ish 400s and one fast-ish 200 at the end of this.

Think I might add on another 200M at the end this week.

Sunday... Longish run...

It was a lovely warm morning when I headed out around 9.45 - I started off on the local 10K race route, but ended up doing an out and back rather than the circular bit in the middle as the 10K proper starts more than 1K from my house, so I'd done about 10.5K with the run and the walking before and after, I don't wanna up my distances too quickly!

I really enjoyed this, keeping my heart rate low by walking some of the hills, nice way to do a long run I have to say!

Next week's plans

I think I'll go for doing the full 10K next Sunday, so don't wanna add anything on during the week, once I'm to 10K I think I'll work on adding some intervals in gradually maybe before upping the Sunday distance!

Good stuff. Have you done a parkrun recently? You should be in the top 15% with that pace. Just need to keep at it and the hotter days don't make it easy. Best to get out first thing. Can't all be like @bingbabe who I see on Strava finishing her runs before I even get up.

I'll probably get back to Park Runs in July - no rush - I can't run that early either - around 9.00 actually suits me!

The way we see that if we start doing something and then keep doing it in a daily routine, the strength that a person has inside becomes more than the way we see that you first It's more running than that and it's much better for your health. I also started going daily earlier but then gave up and am trying again.
