Cold Runnings...
This week was the first of the Autumn where I switched into my cold weather running gear.
I headed out on Monday relatively early, around 7.20 a.m. and this was just as the sun was rising, so pretty much the coldest part of the day, and at only 3 degrees it was the coldest morning of the year so far.
I opted for my proper winter running top, a nice one piece with a fluffy inside layer - and waterproof too, although that wasn't needed on Monday.
I even started out with a hat, but that came off pretty rapido, but handy for my hands which were cold, it was nippe.
But I did appreciated the gear, at least at first, I was getting a bit too warm by the end of the run!
Monday's run - faster than of late!
Maybe it was the cold weather that made me run a little faster than I have been lately, just a tiny tad faster than a trot...
And slightly faster on Weds...
This week's schedule meant jamming in the two runs quite close to each other, sometimes it's just the way it has to be... I also set out at 7.20 and was surprised I upped my pace a bit... same route....
I like these early starts...
It's just as well, as I'm not inclined to go running after a day's work, which is usually around 15.30, that's schools out time, horrible time to be running.
The reason I head out at 7.20 is that's the latest I can leave it to be back by 8.00, just before the morning schools and commuters main rush.
I like it quiet when I'm running, so I'll probably stick these cold early morning runs.
I'm glad I've got the gear, and something of an idea!
On cold morning runs I find I soon warm up and have to strip off some layers. Just have to get going. I've not had a really cold one yet this season, but I expect that will come soon. I was marshalling at parkrun today, so will try to run tomorrow.
Yeah I need to get into the 'be bold, start cold' mind set!
It's just like now winters are starting or it's getting cold inside our country and it gets very cold at night.
