Yes, I have been in situations where something looks expensive to me because I couldn't afford it, and I would have to work towards earning more to afford it. Also, I would see it this way again: Just because something is expensive doesn't always mean someone cannot afford it or they should try to upgrade their financial capacity, but sometimes, one needs to understand if it is what they actually want or not. I can't just say because I can afford something expensive, I should go for it without asking if it is really worth buying, because most times, they end up becoming useless when we don't use them.

Of course, it's important to buy only what you are in need of. You can't buy something expensive because you are trying to prove that you can afford it.
