My little way of preparing for exam

Before I got into secondary school, there was nothing like preparation in my dictionary. I hate reading because it makes me bored, I prefer to be flogged than told to go and read my book. Whenever I stare at the book for too long, I begin to see letters and numbers moving from one side of the book to another.
In the junior class, there was nothing like reading ahead of the examination and even when the exam timetable is out, I still find it hard to read. I envy students who read even during the class-free period, I usually see them as magicians.
Reading wasn't important until I nearly repeated JSS 3, it was then I realized how important it was to read. No one taught me how to and my mom's warning was enough to scare the hell out of me.
I thought I had learned my lessons but my best wasn't enough when I got to SS1. I failed during my first term and when I got home my mom made me understand that once I don't pass, I should forget about school.
That day, I was really scared because that was the first time my mom ever talked from her heart to me unlike before when she would beat me and forget about it. It was very unusual for her to speak angrily without beating me.
I don't want to fail and I don't want to stop school meanwhile I don't like reading, what will I do? I asked myself while tears is rolling down my cheek.
The next morning at school I changed my seat from the back to the front because I noticed that people at the back doesn't care about what the teacher is saying at the front.
So from there, I started grabbing what the teacher taught us in class. My attitude towards study began to change because people in the front don't joke with reading.
This is how I prepare for exams when I was in secondary school.
Three weeks before the exam I would have started reading because I am a slow learner so if I don't focus on the reading I won't understand it on time.
Whenever I read, I do it to understand and I write out things to help me ease studying again as the exam approaches.
But when I became an adult the way I prepare for exams changed a lot because what is been taught in secondary school is very simple to what we learn in the university.
So I don't wait until the exam before I prepare for it because I was working and schooling so there was no time to keep separate for study and all I do was read what we've been taught and understand it before another class.
Reading my note frequently made me understand a lot of things easily and it prepared me for exams always because in the polytechnic there is no fixed time for tests, lecturers can come in and give us test at any time.
This made me study every time I am less busy at work. At my working place, people thought I will be the best student in my class because of the way I read every time during my break time at work.
😂wow I really laugh wen you said you see letters and numbers moving from one place to another...I was once like that I hated reading so much as if is a threat to me. And wen I see others reading I feel as if I'm left behind. And when examination is approaching I became worried about the whole thing, no body advice me but I have to face my fears and problem, and thank God I conquered it....nice blog! Thanks for sharing.
My sister it wasn't funny 🤣 back then because all I wanted was to play and sleep I never knew education is very important
But when I saw my results with my mom's warning I couldn't help it but to seat tight
Yeah nice move👍
I had that same experience with my mother. And since I don't want to disappoint her more with my attitude in school, I know I have to exert more effort :)
Like seriously if my mom had beat me that day I wouldn't have taken it seriously but for her to talk to me without beating me I knew the issue was a serious one
To read doesn't make sense at first but with little time we realize how important it is to get up and start something. You picked challenge and enter the process of studying which is very good of you. That was the only step you needed and you did it, I am Pretty sure mum is happy you pick up the challenge to start reading...
I don't have a choice than to make her proud and it is only when I pass my exams that she can be proud of me
Yeah that's right.. go fit it and am sure you'll get it😉💯
Totally opposite of me 😂. You had very good discipline
LoL 😂
I just don't want to disappoint my mother that's why I changed
😂I see no worries at least you got motivation there
It's good you discovered you were a slow learner on time, which made you put in the effort
Yeah I believe that's why I could cope with the reading because if I haven't discovered that I might be waiting for the exam to come first before I start reading
Their warnings and faces of disappointment is what usually motivates us. You were quite the opposite of me as my nose was practically dragged out of books each day. I'm glad you finally saw what was important and studied.✨

Yeah I surely wanted to make her happy that was why I changed
Reading can get so tiring and boring but when we have it at the back of my mind that it's either we read or we face the consequences, then reading becomes very important.
I'm glad you figured out the best study habit for yourself.
#drewmport.
Yes reading can be very boring at times but what we want to gain from the reading is all that matters
True, it's the knowledge that is most important.
Glad you changed your attitude towards studying, a heart-to-heart talk from our parents really goes a long way than flogging the child.
Yeah because we can get to the cane easily than the talk
It is great that you changed your attitude.
It is funny no matter what country we are from, people at the back of the class do not care about school!
