Prompt #20: Professionally avoiding sleep

Hello, everyone!

I can boldly say that no one can train another person to avoid sleep. Sleep is not a skill that anyone should acquire; it is a natural phenomenon that no one can escape, no matter how strong you are. When it comes, you have to obey.

However, I can confidently tell you that I am very skilled at escaping sleep, even when I am tired. Yesterday, I attended a program — a church program, precisely. I returned home late, exhausted, with clothes to wash before the next morning.

Instead of protecting my resting time, I decided to avoid sleep that night so I could wash my clothes, knowing fully well that the next day would be filled with activities. I brought out the clothes and allocated a specific time to finish the washing, but I ended up staying awake for over an hour. It was a very difficult decision to make, but I had to make it for the sake of other plans succeeding.

I deliberately took that decision, even though my body needed rest.

I crossed my sleep boundaries.I crossed my peace.I missed my dreams, both the beautiful ones and the nightmares.I refuse my body its passage to the spirit world.I neglected my pillows, blanket, and nighties

After I finished washing, I collapsed into my bed, snoring, and catching glimpses of dreams in flying colors.

I am writing this piece at 12:30 AM as my response to prompt #20 episode of #midnightletters.

Thank you.
