Start of a new day.

My habit is to get up immediately when I awake.

And this time I sat outside even before a bird could declare the new day with song.

The importance of getting 8 hours of sleep every day, is mentioned consistently online by the health gurus, but who of us can afford this luxury. Definitely not me, as I have weird times of sleeping. In my younger days, I worked in the construction fields, and I could often, up to three times a week, work a double shift. That means no sleep and it didn't trouble me. My army days were no better as the guards saw me walking around at 2am way before our official rising time of 4am. So yes, I guess I'm just an early bird at times.

Let me show you what our early morning looked like.

Streetlights were still on.

Slowly, the day started, and it was very cloudy.

See the cloud formations on the mountain range.

Hectic stuff and we were in for another of those very hot days. The thing is that the clouds block the sun, and then the humidity increases into the 90 percentages.

And that was it. I didn't take many photos, and these are the best of what I got of the early morning.

So how do you sleep? 8 hours? Broken sleep patterns?

I don't know many people that sleep the allotted 8 hours and there is so much disinformation about it. Each of us are different, and if we, instead of trying to sleep the 8 hours, should listen to our bodies, they will tell us how much sleep we need. That's just my way of looking at things. Maybe I am wrong, and most of us sleep the allotted hours, but then I have always been a bit weird.

A funny thing was when I worked shifts for 5 years at a tobacco company, two weeks dayshift, two weeks nightshift. They had to put a guard at the lunchtime area as people would sit sleeping there instead of working. My trouble is, that I cannot sleep in the day and so you can imagine the battles that I had when the nightshift period started. I maybe got 3 hours of sleep during those periods, as we knocked off at 5 and I would rush home to sleep until the kids got dressed for school.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

That’s quite a lot and you didn’t break down? I don’t I could do that, at least not consistently.

This is an expensive advice to my body…it wants to sleep all day. Literally had to keep it on a leech to get it to work…mum said I got the sleeping too much from dad. Dad was a hard worker but definitely not joke with his sleep🤣🤣🤣

Beautiful morning sky there

No, I didn't break down, as I was young and super fit.

Yeah, we do inherit some of our parents' genes, and at times it can make our lives difficult. !LOL

Thank you for the compliment.

This is a relatable post! I've also found that the "8 hours of sleep" advice doesn't always work in real life. Your experiences in construction and the army really highlight how sleep schedules can be so unpredictable.

You have created the first image in a very beautiful way. This is one of my favorite images when the sky is visible and there are clouds.

I'm like you, have very irregular sleeping patterns. Promise myself I'll have an early night, feel sleepy late afternoon, have a little nap, only rarely, to bed too late, wake up in the night, check what's happening on Hive, or WhatsApp, wake up early, and the day starts, same pattern all the time! I do believe some people need more sleep, I can't sleep for long periods.
I love your first and last images!
Have a wonderful evening my friend.

Oh yeah, we call it a midnight feast with coffee and rusks, and after that an hour in the Book. It is almost as if I don't like to sleep, as the broken sleep sessions makes me feel more tired and confused when I get up in the mornings. But such is life, and nothing you and I can do about it. !LOL
Thank you for the compliment milady.
May you also have a good night.

I have sleep issues. I never sleep 8 hours, and I know it's terrible. I hear myself writing or designing, and the hours just fly by 🤦🏻‍♀️...
By the way, beautiful sunrise clouds

The same thing here, and I am convinced that time has speeded up. In the old days an hour to wait felt like a long time, and now the hours just fly past.
Thank you.

The importance of getting 8 hours of sleep every day

I wanted to, but never succeeded. Only selected people succeed in doing it. btw the appearance of the lights in the second picture is very interesting, at first glance it looks like a sunset.
