Special Snack : Kembang Goyang/Rosette Cookies

Hi bloggers and food lovers, this time I'm going to share a sweet treat that my family usually makes for big occasions, but I'm making it now. The name sounds unique : kembang, which means flower, because it comes from a flower/rose-shaped mold, and goyang, which means to shake, because you shake the mold to release the dough. Okay, let's get started.

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of rice flour
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
  • 1 egg
  • 250 ml of thick coconut milk
  • 350 ml thin coconut milk
  • oil

Steps:

  • Mix the rice flour, sugar, salt, vanilla powder, and 1 egg.

  • Mix with your hands to form the dough.

  • Add the thick coconut milk.

  • Gradually add the thin coconut milk until the dough reaches this consistency.

  • Strain the dough until it reaches this final consistency.

  • Heat the oil and dip the cleaned kembang goyang mold into it

  • Once hot, dip the mold into the dough

  • Shake the mold in the hot oil until the dough comes off the mold

  • Cook over low heat until the kembang goyang cake turns golden brown

  • Remove and drain

  • Repeat until all the dough is used up
