Simple Dessert: Pandan Cassava Porridge

Hi bloggers, today I'm going to share our family's favorite traditional sweet recipe made from cassava. Do you guys like cassava? Cassava is one of the carbohydrate sources that grows abundantly in our area. This time, I'm going to make pandan cassava porridge, which is easy to make and doesn't take long. It has a beautiful color and a sweet and savory taste. Okay, let's get started

Ingredients:

Cassava porridge:

  • 1 kg cassava
  • 5 pandan leaves ( screwpine leaves )
  • 300 ml water
  • Sugar
  • Salt to taste

Coconut milk sauce:

  • 100 ml coconut milk
  • Salt

Steps:

  • Peel the cassava.

  • Cut into small pieces, clean, then soak in a container of water for 1 hour.

  • While waiting for the cassava to soak, put the chopped pandan leaves into a blender.

  • Add 300ml of water to it.

  • Blend until it becomes a green liquid, then strain to separate the pulp and liquid

  • After 1 hour, put the pandan liquid and cassava into the blender

  • Blend until the cassava is smooth and looks like this

  • Put it in a pan and add sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • Turn on the heat and cook the cassava and stir continuously until it boils.

  • Once it boils and the texture becomes thicker like this, you can turn off the heat.

  • Let it cool.

Coconut milk sauce:

  • Add coconut milk and a pinch of salt.
  • Cook over low heat until the coconut milk starts to boil, then turn off the heat.

Serving instructions:

Cold cassava porridge can be served with a savory and creamy coconut milk sauce.

The combination of sweet and savory flavors in this porridge is a treat for the taste buds. The fragrant aroma of pandan leaves also enhances the flavor of this cassava porridge.

I never tried cassava unfortunately I see it only here same for pandan leaves that always make me curious because make everything green 💚❤️❤️

Is it difficult to find cassava there? Pandan leaves are very fragrant and suitable for use as food coloring 💚
