Shake it Out
So not much writing and posting transpiring at the moment but it's because my focus has been on stability and new horizons. Which don't seem to go together but can't be separated in times like these.
We took a road-trip, yesterday, to check out some possible new accommodation on some farms that felt like they were a million miles away in the old Datsun. No aircon, never heard of central locking back to the future good ol' days, no power-steering and my leg muscles are getting good and strong with that springless clutch situation.
Still the car handled fine and I received more smiles, more random passing hoots and waves, another offer to purchase and had another cool conversation with yet another cool bunch of guys when we stopped to get more petrol. They were the petrol attendants, to be clear.
Yep. We still have folks serving us all over the place out here in South Africa. Lucky us.
And more petrol because we got lost on off the map farm roads, and never actually arrived at our intended destinations, because the directions weren't so clear and we weren't clear on our direction.
Hey ho... still another conversation, with a police officer, when we went through a roadblock.
"You like my car." I smiled, as he handed me back my temporary driver's license.
He'd been looking up and down the length of the vehicle and at me a bit curiously while he checked to see I wasn't being naughty. "Yes." he kinda blushed, as he asnwered, and he told me his story about his Datsun and the good memories he had from his youth.
This is the best part about the car, by the way.
The connection.
Because that is what this make and model creates.
Datsun has a ton of history in South Africa and is still crazy popular among those in the know. And apparently in Zimbabwe as well.
I know this, now, because a mechanic I saw who was working on a car in someone's driveway, and who I stopped to try and rope in to helping me fix it up, also smiled and told me his story about his Datsun way back when.
And so it goes. And goes.
If you know what you're seeing when you see the car.
Of course... if you're a bit of a spoiled git, you'd have no idea exactly how valuable it really is. And not in a money kinda way. In a this is some of our history kinda way. Of we the people.
But perhaps that's why some folks around here just don't "get it" in the first place.
Yeah I'm going on about the car... because this is much more than just about the car if you know about South Africa at all.
But you may be suspecting that I tend to go a liddle bit deeper by now.
Anyhoo... it was a trip that I can't afford Fuck me petrol is expensive now but was almost worth the sense of freedom and adventure, and the time with Nathan away from the many screens, that I've sorely missed for some time now.
In fact... life being what it is and how it goes...
of course it was fuckin' worth it!
And for a #ThreeTuneTuesday that I finally get to participate in again (although the tunes haven't stopped on either side, I'm sure)...
one more bangin' one for @ablaze - the founder of the superb initiative - because I know he also still likes dem beats as much as I do.
I'm dancing every day, Daddio. I hope you get up and have a boogie too.
Never stop the dance!
It really does keep you travelin' light! 💜

Never stop the dance <3
Haha, laughed at the part "please insert the rolling eyes emoji" 😂
eh, yea, should keep it light, I hope to get on that track and shake the possible
flashbacksstress out in case it comes! Does work and playing the piano count instead of dance? :DHmmmm... no. Work doesn't count because that's an addiction! *insert smiley emoji here
Piano most definitely counts if you sing instead of dance ;)
p.s. Love your use of "flashback". :D This is how we fix 'em for good! By seeing things clearly.
You're a special human. Have a flashback free day <3 😍
We are already perfect ;) I will try to have such a flashback free day, or just scare them away with a few loudly played chords and passages 🎶
Oh that'll work for sure! 😁
But you have to sing! It's actually science now. It raises the tone of the Vagus nerve and pulls the handbrake on the Fight/Flight Stress reaction. #forrealsies 💜
Humming works as well if you're too shy to sing.
p.s. I'd personally love to hear you sing!
Hey... I've also picked up my guitar again. But I've yet to learn to play it. 😬
But I'm gonna play it for you anyway because we're already perfect ;)
Have fun today, please. We gotta dance in the rain as well, apparently <3
Picking up again the guitar, that's cool. Enjoy. In fact, I played today my piano, recorded and published it, and this post of yours post also contributed to its creation. 😉
Oooooh.... on it now! :)
Thanks for letting me know 😀

On it, HIveBuzz. For you <3
Keep up the good work and keep engaging with the community. We can't wait to see you achieve your next milestone! 👍❤️
It's a good community to engage with.
That's not gonna be difficult at all, y'know ❤️
See you on the next milestone ;)
"You like my car officer?"🌚
😂😂😂
He did though. So cute :D
It's such a good conversation starter!
Hello you!
Hello!!
How've you been?
I'm good all things considered :)
Still dancing. Or dancing again! And that's always good!
How's the pressure on your side? You okay?
Ongoing exams...
Fairly good so far.
4 out of 5 done.
NIce!
Almost there :)
Sometimes that's all we need:)
It's so fun, sister :)
I feel like I've been accepted and am part of the club! 😎
Now I'm all for radical individuation. It's the way to true peace of heart and mind...
but it's beautiful to connect with people who are kindreds.
It literally just happened again while I was dropping off the rubbish, btw.
Another offer to buy. Another conversation about life and weird times and keeping on. An exchange of phone numbers. And a smile from a grumpy Old Oom when I spoke Afrikaans and said, "Moré Meneer."
The other guys says, "She can speak Afrikaans."
The Oom smiled and nodded and said, "I know. I know this one."
Small village, you know. Word gets around and strangers on foot on unknown roads raise questions. And hey ho... that's all we need to incite some maybe growth and progress.
Curiosity ;)
Stay you. I see you. Stay you. The world takes a bit of time to adjust 💜

p.s. "Oom" is a sing of respect in the Cape Coloured community. People have begun to call me "Tannie / Auntie" because of my age :)
"Coloured" in South Africa refers to a very special community that is localised in the Western Cape. You won't find much of this culture anywhere else in the world. We "whities" aren't really supposed to use the word "coloured" as it has racial undertones and we Saffas are all still trying to work our grim history out. But you can use that word if you are a "Cape Coloured".

It's compicated!

Weird that we still haven't figured it all out, innit? :|
But this conversation is really about gender ;)
I always say, "Geesh. Imagine being a black woman in South Africa!"
To which my son replies, "Imagine being a black, lesbian woman in South Africa!"
*sigh
I'm just gettin' kinda tired of being a woman in South Africa. But I guess I shouldn't complain because things could always be worse!
Love your vibe. And yes. I do need it! Thank you :D #truestory

Off to do the dishes and dance now 😁 My favourite part of the day!
I wouldn't know what's the deal with Datsun and South Africa but I adore them. Datsun was the first cat I drove and unfortunately the first one that I destroyed :(
I still remember it though with affection :)
😂
Well... that's mostly how we learn!
How beautiful and thanks for sharing that! I just joined a page on Fakebook and am seeing some real beauties 💥 Trying to find a replacement for the front fender so if you know a guy... ?
They are lovely vehicles and real workhorses. This one has over 500 000km on the clock and still going strong! 🦾
p.s. I'm older than the Datsun! Now that's pause for a wow :D
Have a great day and thanks for sharing your Datsun memory 😍
Haha, I was one year older from the Datsun I was driving too, but I was hardly 20 back then. From what I have read on your blog we should have the same age, more or less.
Back in the day they were making great machinery and great humans I might add :)
Hehe... they don't make 'em like they used to 🙃
You look far younger than I am! Must be all the good Mediterranean Olive Oil ;)
Stay cool, old timer. I'll catch you on the road again for sure!
How ya doing Nicky, dig the tunes and you have some serious dance moves!! Fair play to you, you keep on dancing and best if luck with those new horizons. Keep on living and connecting, that's what it's all about. That tape hanging from the mirror of the Datsun is très cool!!! Laters...
Hey you! :D
Thanks, Daddio! I will NEVER stop dancing. Even if I gotta do it with a walking stick. Or two!
Haw. I can't dance. But I do have a good go at it.
The car came with the tape. Can you believe it! Très cool, Qui! I'm keepin' it too.
Sending love always ❤️
Nice car that Datsun, feels good to move against the current, doesn't it? Here my father has one of the oldest Moskvitch. But not it goes against the tide, it is just the only thing he has been able to have. I still think he will never get rid of it, because of the significance it has in his life.
Hahaha... I love your dancing. It's like a body expression thing, it's therapy. Maybe one day I'll get drunk (joke) and do something like that and post it. Cool. That thing where you even set up your own set of lights... you made me have a good time, really.
The most important thing really is to be yourself and feel good no matter what. This is a great teaching.
😉
It's that! :) It keeps things flowing and releases body stress - which can get trapped in the body and make you sick over time!
Hah! I've been sober for many years now. Getting into conscious dance is what really helped me get over my inhibitions and social nervousness. It's worth practicing for this alone
And yeay!. I'm going to make a guided short class when I have decent studio space for people to try at home. I hope you do ;) ❤️
This sounds like a project... hahaha... please include challenges. 😁
Oh... I only challenge people on issues of social justice and self avoidance 😂
But for you I'll make a challenge!
That floppy disc art! Fun stuff.
I am no stranger to road trips I can't afford, yet somehow always manage to go on anyway. I'm glad you found that freedom. Can we see the car, now?
I used to be in LOVE with Z cars when I was a teen. My subaru looks nothing like one but something about it captures that fun-car vibe.
The car is still fucked, sadly. No funds to fix it. Yet. The front fender, I mean. And I can't roadworthy it until it's fixed so...
Stupid assholes. Oh... sorry... I'm just being a crazy bitch and I shouldn't be angry at all! My bad! I'm so sorry!
The bastards aren't talkin' either. Total shut down. :(
Which is why this shit continues. Anyhoo... it still goes. Yes, she goes! :D So yes... I have some freedom on the road again. Now I just need funds for petrol!
Wow. It got expensive over these last three years, huh?!
Hey. I'd eat baked beans in exchange for a road trip any day. #justdidit 😂
Sending love, angel ❤️
I had black beans for dinner! Right outta da can. (But I mixed other shit it to make it good.) I don't know how I keep getting poorer and poorer, it couldn't possibly be all the road trips and ice time.
Sending emotional Band-Aids for your fender. Brand name.
Sister, my sister :D
I had baked beans on home made Naan. And used cotton wool to wipe... er... never mind.
Yep. It's def the road trips :| But worth it ;)
Nice thing about living in a village... the grocery store let me take some stuff on account. 👍
Wow, that's seriously awesome about the store. Here we have resources like food banks and food stamps. They get the job done but lack the personal interaction and community.
Yeah... I think so too. It's pretty cool, really :D
No school like old school. Sometimes!
A little Swallow has been visiting me, btw! Like close up! It came and sat right next to me the other day at my door. Never have I ever! I'm going to invest in some birdseed ❤️
Bird friends are the best!!! I feel like they come to us when we need them most. And then they change our lives forever.
I felt so honoured, really! :)
I'm special after all! They picked me!
Or it's just another hungry boy... hmmmm... we'll see if he still visits if I don't feed him 👍
All birds are always hungry all the time, there's no just about it. They picked you!
:D
Hooooooooray!!!
I feel so blessed right now!!!!
😅
