The Message and the Messenger

It's a common saying that one shouldn't take advice from fools and things like that.

I've heard it said so many times that when you receive an advice from someone you should first of all look at the person, that if you don't want to be like the person or want anything they have then you shouldn't listen to their advice.

We've also heard this one from Game of Thrones: The Lion does not care about the opinions of the sheep.

Further talks like asking people "what have you done with your own life?", as a reply to people who advise/criticize you, etc.

All of these just shows that we think a messenger has anything to do with the message. But does a messenger have anything to do with the message? Very little, if any.

Someone could be a sheep, a failure, a ne'er do well, but that shouldn't be the basis on which we treat what they have to say. The only basis should be whether it makes sense or not.

You can go ahead with your disrespect for them and their kind and all, but as an argument the merits of what was said can only be found by examining what was said and not who said.

No matter who said something, what their past is or what their biases or motives maybe, the only way to say whether what they said should be taken or not is whether what they said made sense or not.

So there's hardly a need to look at who said it.

A sheep or failure can be right. Saying the right things can be very easy, it is doing the right things that is difficult. You'd be surprised how much a low achiever knows, he's just not been able to put it into action maybe due to laziness, lack of resources, etc.

So, let's abandon the fallacy of treating the messenger as more important than the message.

I will always say that at the end laziness always kills the person dream or goal he want to achieve in life.

checking on who said it does not seem right. Sometimes, people find themselves giving solutions to situations, while still looking for ways to solved their own, and that can be as a result of them, having experience the other person situations, so it's easier for them to solved it.
