One of the Dumbest Episodes in Series History
Looking at that title you'd think I'm a no-nonsense critic who's usually too hard on the subject of his criticism. But I'm not. Or am I? 🤔
I actually love the Reacher series and the character, even when it was played by Tom Cruise. I was so happy when I found out about this series and it didn't disappoint me much, it was still a very enjoyable watch with very little to complain about.
But this Episode 5 of Season 2 had one of the dumbest scenes in the history of shows, I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched it. How could this have happened.
The dumb scene is the burial scene. Some police man was killed due to a case he was working on and and it was his burial. During the burial Reacher and some of the people who were working the case with the dead police man were in attendance.
The same people who had killed him also planned to kill Reacher snd the others during the burial. Their plan was to shoot Reacher and the others while the gun salute was going on.
You know what a gun salute is, right? Military men in military ceremonial fashion shoot some rounds into the air to salute/show respect to the deceased. These assassins were going to shoot while that was going on so the sounds of their guns would be masked.
Now, they shot and they missed. Immediately there was pandemonium, the people scattered and Reacher and his compadres had to shoot back and chase the assassins. Shooting back lasted for a sort of long while before the chase began. It had to do with hiding behind bushes and anything for cover and shooting with any little space one could muster.
Guess what? While all of these were happening the military guys who were shooting rounds in the air were nowhere to be found. In fact they disappeared with everyone else immediately the assassins missed their shots.
How dumb is this!
Military guys mourning a colleague who was killed in the line of duty were shooting into the sky to show their last respects, and just then assassins shot at the crowd and these military men didn't even try to fight back the assassins or do anything, they just disappeared! How crazy is that?
In which world would the military guys not head the fight against assassins who shot at the crowd during the burial of one of their own? In which world would they take that sitting down? Disappearing and letting civilians handle it.
This part was just a shame to watch and it took away points from this series. I had a good mind to stop watching there and then but I let the emotional value win over the intellectual value and kept enjoying the series. Lol.

Haha, I totally agree with you. that burial scene was pretty wild. An assassin attack during a funeral gun salute felt so unrealistic. 😂 But honestly, I still love this show, and I’m hooked. Even with that crazy moment, I’m excited to see what Reacher does next. This series keeps me on the edge of my seat, unrealistic scene or not.
I remember watching the Tom Cruise Jack Reacher movie and liking it, I haven't started watching the series yet (Time always is a massive issue with so much choice out there) but I generally hear good things about it.
