My Mother-in-law vs Daughter-in-law Theory
I should start by establishing that mother-in-laws are so fond of antagonizing their daughter-in-laws, but we all know that already?
Definitely not all mother-in-laws, but this phenomenon has come to be recognized as something that happens so often in most societies.
There's a lot of wonder about why this is so, especially as this is not common with father-in-laws, father in laws are almost always so chill with their son-in-laws. Father-in-laws might be difficult in the beginning during dating/courtship, but once the marriage happens father-in-laws are known to back off like a mf.
So why is the same not applicable for mother-in-laws?
I'll tell you why.
Women are mostly brought up to look forward to marriage (Although things are changing as humans get more modern/civilized), plus for a woman marriage is a bigger deal/event, when a woman announces she's getting married it sounds like more of a celebration but for a man it is more of he's taking up a big responsibility. LOL.
Nobody knows how much a woman values marriage than another woman, and when that woman is somehow in a position of authority where she kinda has a say or influence on another woman's marriage it makes her feel powerful, and power corrupts.
The mother-in-law knows that a marriage is about the all and all for the daughter-in-law, this is about the greatest dream of the daughter-in-law. The mother-in-law is the mother of the groom, she has some sort of influence/control over the son so it makes her feel she kinda has a say in the marriage. It makes her feel she's part of the people granting the daughter-in-law this great achievement that the daughter-in-law lives for as a woman.
So she gets a little god complex from all that power, and it makes her want to abuse her position.
You have to look at it this way. The usual reason others give is that it's jealousy and women are fond of being jealous of other women. That is true, but furthermore the fact that the mother-in-law has some sort of power surely comes to play here. Plus the fact that she understands what a huge favour she feels her son is doing for the daughter-in-law by marrying her. Like i said before, she's a woman and she understands it better than anyone 😅, so that must influence her jealousy even more.

Like you said, the percentage of mother in law having issue with their daughter in-laws in huge. I think it is all about who has the highest say since the mother would claim she gives birth to the groom and without that the daughter in-laws won't be able to marry him. However the daughter inlaw too has power over the husband as she will use emotion and love to override her mother in laws. It is not possible for the groom to have sex to with the mother so the daughter inlaw always hide under this to at least have control over their husband.

lolzz 🤣🤣 you've said it so right, especially the fact that the mother inlaw will feel the son wont look at her face again after the daughter inlaw has entice his son and tangled him with all kind of moves lolzz.
