Going for a Swim at Orrah Beach, Nigeria.

Orrah Beach is located in a village called Orrah, in Ozizza, in a Afikpo North Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.

I've successfully pinned it on the Worldmappin map, so yay! Hopefully someone else would check the place out some day.

It is very easy to go to, the roads are great, all tarred, and perfect. Following the above breakdown of the location I gave above works as smoothly as it was broken down.

Personal Bit

So, fun fact, this is where I'm from! 😀
But, sadly, I don't live here, I live in the Country's capital called Abuja. One of the most successful planned cities in the world.

On average I travel to Orrah once in 2 years. I totally love the place. I mostly come here for this river!

How did you learn how to swim? For me, this river is where I learnt how to swim. In the city I go to a swimming pool every now and then, but I never feel like I've really swam until I swim in a big clean running water like this river!

So any year I don't come I keep feeling like I haven't really swam all year.

More Bits About the Place

This river is mostly clean and fresh like this only in the period in Nigeria known as the "Dry Season", which is roughly from November to March.

In the "Rainy Season" the river overflows and gets more messy. So you know when to go.

This is mostly a place you want to go to in order to have a fun safe swim. People have been swimming here for generations and there are no wild animals or anything harmful around.

There are cool hotels not far away too that you can lodge in. The village and it's culture might interest you too. You can get to buy fishes and other edible aquatic animals from the market there.

Here is yours truly, looking truly like the guy you want to make yours 😅🌚:

The other people in the pictures are my comrades.

And here are videos of our swim, if you want:

Glad you found another excuse for a selfie.

Looks like a cool place to call home. I get the impression I'd blend right in, hardly noticeable, wouldn't stand out at all.. Just like a local.

Hahahaha. Yep, that was part of the main intent, an excuse for selfie.

Lol. You'll be sighted from a mile away. But that would be no issue, though 😊👌

How big is the village? The landscape reminds me of Fiji. Fiji also has Rainy season and dry season so I'm familiar with this.

Thank you for sharing.
