RE: The Adventure of a Blacklisted Café A Horror Story

Still a fun experience in the end! I've roamed down so many unknown streets and walked into the doors of so many odd looking places, and even if I come out disappointed in the event it's a cafe, it was still fun trying something different and exploring, going beyond the usual locations that I've grown familiar with. I'm actually constantly on the hunt for them, because as much as I love the main spots, sometimes I want to feel a bit lost again and feel that sense of discovery.

As much as I could sympathize, that was an odd conversation I’ve had in a while.

I've encountered these a lot too. But that's also an experience. Sometimes you need to speak to such people to remember how so many others live, to remember to have a little empathy and realise that each person has their own stories to tell.

Unfortunately, after settling in myself, I saw a man in his 40’s approach me. He’s one of the staff that worked in the place. He asked me where I was from, why I was alone, and all the questions that seemed a bit odd in this setting.

They were probably surprised to see someone arrive, especially by themselves. I'm sure most people that do go there go as a group. Oddly, that location doesn't seem too bad. It has a certain environment to it, it's just lacking life.

Reminds me of a place in Tbilisi that I sometimes went to, but eventually stopped; it was called Introvert Cafe and was owned by some lovely Russian people that would rent the space out to their friends for little swaps and events. But it was mostly unknown beyond the small Russian community in that district. Every time I went there it was almost empty, unless there was an event. The place had a beautiful interior and full of fun art, board games and books, but being the only people there, it felt uncomfortable. Almost like we'd stepped into someone's home and just made ourselves comfortable as the owners relaxed in their kitchen.

The coffee was good, the people were lovely, and the environment was a cozy space, but that atmosphere was lost. So quiet inside that even to talk to the person next to you it was like you needed to whisper. Eventually we just never went again.

Thank you for the previous idea before and honestly, now I am making more discoveries of areas that I am visiting. It's been pretty interesting and I am starting to see myself all around the city.

While I do enjoy the encounter, it was creepy. Some people just have that ill-intention vibe to it that I can smell from miles away. So, I was being overly cautious about things.

I went to so many cafe like that Introvert Cafe, you know where the owners and I eventually talk. But the thing is that, with coffee shops like that, they tend to have this strange atmosphere and eventually, going out of business. It's unfortunate though because the place was cozy and something I frequented because this type of coffee shop matches my vibe

Glad to hear it. I've been doing it for a while myself and I love it. Sometimes I'll spend the entire day just walking around somewhere new and only taking in the atmosphere, not even going into any buildings or speaking to anyone. It's more fun with a camera obviously. But you get to witness so many more things. I haven't been able to do it lately though after getting sick + it being 40 degrees out there each day now. It's brutal!

Another thing I'd advise is also searching for events. Especially now it's summer, look for some festivals and such to attend and photograph. Or just little events in bars or cafes. Live music and the rest. It's nice to get out of your comfort zone sometimes, and it makes the world seem much larger than it feels since you aren't stuck in a room wasting away on Hive or going to the same three locations.
