Long and Short term benefits and problems of medication
Every medicine that we take reacts some way in our body. As we believe medicines are meant to cure us, but honestly this is what I believe that allopathy medicines are only meant to cover up and not really cure us up completely. The most common health problems like Diabetes, Thyroid, Blood pressure, there is no medication yet which will cure it completely from the root level. All it will do is manage the symptoms and keep us not exactly healthy but in a functionable state. My hubby who has an autoimmune condition of Myasthenia is now on life long medication of steroids and other pills. Though the surgery of removal of thymus gland is done and coming out from a very critical state to a state of stability, Doctors say he needs that little dose for stability.
These steroids increase his sugar level, he gains weight because of it, which is now a continuous situation for him. To manage the sugar he has to take another pill to do so. It never takes away the problem completely. And not sure how long these medications will work on him also, because anything that's taken for a long time may also decrease the effectiveness over a period of time with age and then a higher dose is required. So while it manages the symptoms in the present, it is also building up on future problems.
It's not only with allopathy medication, but also with vitamin supplements we take without proper knowledge. During Covid times we kept hearing about taking vitamin C to boost immunity. For e.g. if someone has presence of heavy metals in their body, vitamin C is advised, because it is believed that vitamin C helps in detoxifying heavy metals. A study was done in battery workers in 2016, those people who had high level of heavy metals in their markers. One month of 500 mg of vitamin C was given to them but it did not reduce the serum lead levels, though it did improve certain antioxidant markers. In another case study 1000 mg of vitamin C was given, in them there was a reduce in the lead levels and at the same time it increased the Urine oxalates.
For my hubby's myasthenia condition we had also tried on Ayurvedic treatment. It did work to an extent in the short run and we felt successful with the treatment but over a period of time it was noticed that it increased the heavy metals in the body drastically, which became another concern
So we see that all of this medication whether allopathy or ayurvedic or supplements has it's own side effects if not taken under right guidance. A short dosage is still ok but a long treatment should never be done without a consult.

The fact that you are very much familiar with your husband’s condition makes you a step forward. If he keeps a managing his health, he’d be fine and it won’t be obvious that there is something of such wrong with him
Keep taking care of him
He was suffering for 3 years before we got his surgery done and I had done very deep research on his condition which now allows me to manage his health better
Thank you for your warm wishes
There's always some form of long term consequences and the goal is often to find the one with the less impact or influence on our system. It's kind of sad that many diseases are not fully curable and we only manage them once we have them nut I guess the lesson is that nothing stays full or perfect.
You are right, some times you cannot avoid and you have to choose between the two which is less harmful for you
