Colors and their Aesthetic

The significance of colors in various world cultures is unprecedented, their meaning in the west of the world holds something entirely different from the east side. In sight of that, color holds a huge significance in how we interpret the our planet and society. It’s being beauty but psychology, since birth we are trained through our eyes and common knowledge to associate a certain hue to a desired outcome. Blue could mean the sky, but also a software product and also a kind of sadness or perhaps serenity. Black could be used in funerals in the West but White could resourced for the same ritual in the East. But we’ve all heard that colors are tied to psychology and marketing, but what about aesthetics?

At some point, with the rise of technology and digitally visual imagery we have started to associate aesthetics, which were originally the Greek term for the philosophy of art and its forms of expression, it’s the analysis of how we seek beauty In the world. Our sensory experience with form, performance, colors, tastes, feelings, what does this piece conveys to you? Does it feel good? kind of stuff. To a point where aesthetics for us – now- signifies a set of ideals conveyed by a group of artists.

For example: If you search for Cottagecore, you will probably get lots of imagery of an idealistic escapist simple life in a farm, living from the field, surrounded by flowers, a cottage, strawberries, dresses, picnics, the colors green, yellow, pink, etc. Now if you search for Goblincore, you will get a slightly similar canvas but rather than the focus being on a farm life, Goblincore main aesthetics surrounds living almost like a goblin, gathering random trinkets from the woods, photos of people hiking in comfortable, often dirty clothing, and old untouched forests who seem mystical and passes the feeling of something magical there. With most of it’s colors being green and brown from the woods.

You get the point, it’s a collection of art that portraits a feeling. Much like what our minds attribute to colors. So by making this parallel I want to introduce you to colors, their ideas and a collection for your sympathy - or what is generally called a Moodboard:

  • Red: energy, passion and anger.

  • Orange: creativity, youth and enthusiasm.

  • Yellow: happiness, hope and spontaneity.

  • Green: nature, growth, harmony, wealth and stability.

  • Blue: calm, trust, intelligence.

  • Purple: luxury, mystery and spirituality.

  • Pink: femininity, playfulness and romance.

  • Brown: wholesomeness, warmth and honesty.

  • Black: elegance, power and sophistication.

  • White: minimalism and simplicity.

  • Gray: professionalism, formality and conventionality.

  • Multicolor is for fun, diversity and optimism.

  • Gold, Silver, Bronze and other metallics: wealth, prosperity and success.
