99 Problems and a Beach Ain't One

Children?? Gather ye close. I have to do my obligatory holiday Hive post!

I bellowed from where I stood in the lounge of our holiday lodge.

The family trailed in from the other rooms and assembled.

What do you mean, the obligatory holiday Hive post, Daddy-Bear?

The Good Lady said with a quizzical face which looked somewhat like a red mullet mouthing at a particularly tough piece of seaweed.

It's quite simple, lass. Every Hivean when they go on holiday must post photos of their experience. There is no getting out of it. It's written in the Hive contract.

I nodded sagely as I spake of the holy compact with the Blockchain. It was rumoured that those who broke it were doomed to an eventual death.

Well, hoots bananas Daddio. We best get you out there hiving!

Exclaimed the Good Lady understandingly.

Yes, there are the odd gaps in between the rain storms. We must venture out. Out into the watery madness of a Scottish summer.

And with that, I led them out and into the outsides.

1000009026.jpg

We tromped down from our lodge to the first beach.

1000008890.jpg

After a seaweedy start and a dead seal it improved further in.

1000008893.jpg

I spotted a gash in the rocks face and knew that was where we must go.

1000008984.jpg

1000008986.jpg

After all what was a holiday without some gash beckoning?

1000008980.jpg

The path was long and hard and the children begged for mercy but there was none to be had. The Blockchain demanded its posting.

1000009038.jpg

I didn't ask to be a hero.

1000008901.jpg

And finally, after much gash and greenery. The beach!

1000008921.jpg

As you can see, in Scotland we go to the beach fully clothed as it is nine hundred degrees below zero.

1000008939.jpg

Sometimes when the sun came out a bit more I would boost the blues in my photos to make them look more happy.

1000009031.jpg

And at the end of the day there was always wine to cheer me up.

Unbelievably, tomorrow promises a weighty fifteen degrees Celsius.

Surely no one can survive such heat? We might even have to take our coats off!?

a dead seal 😯 Dangerous Scotland

The crystal clear air of minus degrees seem to help in creating stunningly beautiful pictures!

Have fun!

The seal was a nice touch.

Looks like a fantastic location - weather depending.

I think the seal died of boredom waiting for better weather 😀

It is stonkingly beautiful, I ask glad we came even if we are having to wrap up!

Perhaps that's why the Scotsmen wore kilts. So they didn't have to shuffle through so many layers.

But ... the Frank and beans would be a Vienna sausage and mushy peas in no time ...

Kilts are indeed very warm. They wrap around you about three times before being fastened.

All to preserve the Frank and beans 🤣

Going to beach as fully clothed can only be in winter in Turkiye. For a moment I thought that you were at an upland, but sea level is zero :)

The hills are further back, they are quite large. It's all flat down at the sea though!!

That is a nice gash.
Looks very prehistoric. Quite the trip by the looks of it. Even of you have to keep your coat on I'd say its totally worth it

The gash was epic!

It is totally worth it, I have never seen this part of Scotland and it is very beautiful!

It's nice when you find good travel gems in your own country. I think people in general tend not to travel in their own country because they are so used to it. Unless that's just me?

I think that's right. I never bothered with travel within Scotland until COVID and lockdowns. Then we decided to do a Scottish place each year we hadn't been.

I am thinking though after three or so years we might be done with them as a main holiday and stick to weekends away within our own country and longer away away!

Yeah that makes sense too. It was different with covid. Great you got to see more of your home country though

Hello Sir, ufff it must be very cold, the important thing is, to be acclimatize with a good wine maybe a double escosés and "chupulun" to the beach.

Beautiful postcards from your country. The photo where the sun is rising very beautiful and you look happy.

Happy holidays in family.🔆🐅

Beautiful. If anyone asks me where the best beaches in the world are, Scotland is always my answer. I do however accidentally fail to mention the temperatures!

May I respectfully suggest though, that standing on a rock with your arm out as if to welcome the vikings, makes it look like you've just shopped the wife out of the picture lol

Have a brilliant holiday, and be contented that even in allegedly warmer climes, the current weather isn't great!

That's our rain!! Only it is probably ten degrees warmer than ours, lol.

They have done couriers up here for sure. I would love to catch them in one of those odd mad weeks where it's totally boiling!

Hehe, it does look like I 'shopped her out!

There's allegedly a high of 13C today and it's way too freaking cold and absolutely not under any circumstances beach weather XD

So you had to go through the gash to get to the other beach? Everyone had a good time? :D

0

avatar

13C, that's like here! Only we are all so starved of beach time is the only time to go.

Yeah, it was quite funky. There are loads of interconnected breached separated by some big rocky outcroppings. And when I saw the gash I just couldn't resist a bit of that action 😀😀

Hell, I didn't know about this sacred covenant of Hive... so I'm going to have to go on vacation to honor it!

We didn't have any holidays planned but we'll see if we can fix it lol!

What a beautiful place! It is so rugged and full of vitality (well, the seal isn't so full of vitality anymore) . Areas of a peek-a-boo sun are a welcome sight after that weather forecast you showed earlier. The crags are most appealing after the flatness of my area. A glass of wine at the end of the day...perfection <3

It's is very rugged and totally lovely. The seal of course rolled the vibe a bit but we have saw more live ones and dolphins and even a whale!!

Oh that's exciting! Haven't had the opportunity to see seals or whales but I have seen dolphins and they are a joy to watch. Enjoy the rest of your vacay! Sorry the sun and heat didn't make it there in time...damn postal service lol

Sometimes one just becomes a hero by accident, you know when some amazing feat is accomplished like...like, err...climbing up some rocks at the beach!

It looks like a lovely spot and I hope you and your family have a lovely time.

I think it's good for a person to release their inner hero little by little so those around don't become overwhelmed.

I don't remember seeing car washes there now that I think about it. This is your fault, by the way. Thinking. There probably is. We didn't own a vehicle so I wasn't paying attention. Where you watch your car through a window as it gets a soap/rinse and employees on the other side dry it for you.. got those?

Yas indeed we have em!! My kids love being in the car when it here a carwash. They think we are totally underwater, lol

I have witnessed a few detectorists!! Really amateurish ones though, just waving them about randomly on the beach.

It has been adjusting watching the Europe's on fire coverage whilst we sheltered from the pounding rain!

Ah, the plush look of a summer in the north. No wonder you are all so bloody pale, can’t expose your skin to the sweet kiss of the sun in those nipply temperatures!

It’s great to get the kiddos to the beach and let them run around and just be kids. There’s so much joy and benefit in that! Even poking the dead seal is a good thing for them, with a stick of course. We’ve seen some dead flying sea rats lately (seagulls) and my son flicked it with a stick to have the remains take a smelly flight a few inches before he decided it would be best to leave it.

That crack in the rocks looks like an awesome experience! I love going down those areas, and it’s even cooler that you got to explore yet another section on the other side. I thought it was going to just be a dead end. Really cool!

It was a cool crack in the rocks. I was quite excited when I checked out poor and it didn't end and was in fact a passage to three next beach which made it all still wow piratey!

The kids have loved all the beach stuff. It even got up to 17 degrees one day!! Lol
