Sirena, thank you for sharing this with us. I never really know the depth of this celebration but now I do. It looks like festivities on its own. There are some similar places in Indonesia where they have this kind of celebration too.

What a lovely comment, @macchiata! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my post. I know Indonesia is a country with many traditions, and I gather this from its wide variety of cuisine; food is generally a reflection of cultural richness. I was unaware of these similarities with Mexican customs; it must be incredibly interesting to learn about them and see how, even across distances, cultural coincidences exist.

The Day of the Dead celebration, as well as the construction of the altar and the offering, have many details with profound meanings, which I have been learning about and researching over the years, and which I hope to share soon.

It's amazing how the blending of cultures, in this case, indigenous and European, can create such an authentic celebration with such deep meaning.
