Not insane at all—it depends on your objectives. Especially if you think BTC will expand in the future, $1,000 in BTC can still be a good starting point if you're investing with a long-term perspective.
Many investors prefer dollar-cost averaging over attempting to buy the dip since timing the ideal moment is almost difficult. Just be sure you're only putting in what you can afford to lose.

I don't see it going to zero. I'd like to beat inflation and not touch this for 13 to 15 years. I just think 1000 now might be better than DCA $100 over 10 months.
That makes total sense. If you're planning to hold for 13–15 years, that long time horizon really smooths out the short-term volatility.
A $1,000 lump sum now could give you more exposure sooner, especially if you believe BTC will trend upward over time.
DCA is great for managing risk, but with that kind of timeline, lump-sum investing might work out better. Either way, sounds like you’ve got a solid plan.
I did it and now my FOMO has ended and won't have to think about BTC again. My stack is my stack. That is a huge relief.
That’s a great feeling—peace of mind is underrated! Now you can just let your stack do its thing and not stress over the charts. Congrats on making your move and putting that FOMO to rest.
