Let's warm up a bit.
So there I was, standing on the weighing scale. Inuke was laughing in the corner, and the instructor was checking the scale. “Well, you dont look that heavy.” The instructor said. “Thank god, I am tall otherwise.” I tried to laugh it off, but both of us knew that it was going to be a very difficult task.
The instructor explained to me the methods and training regimen that we can implement to cut the excess fat and get myself a new shape. “So, what approach do you want to take?” he asked me “The easy one,” I replied That's a no-brainer. If I wanted to lift weights, I could have helped Priya with groceries and chores. “Ok, do warm-ups and stretches and meet me here.” “Alright.. So?? I do stretching and.” I hesitated a bit and asked. “Today is my first day, so can you please guide me on the warm-up exercise?” “No Problem Anna.. You do 20 arm circles forward and back, 20 jumping jacks and 20 knee highs. Dont worry, he will help you,” the Instructor pointed to the second in command at the gym. “Hey!!! Ivani tayaar chey” he yelled in Tamil and went off to tend another guy. “OK, Sir,” a reply came from the magazine cover guy.
“My arms and shoulders are aching. Is this normal?” I asked as I finished the 20-arm circles. “Haan Anna, IT jobs people, this issue is very common. Weak shoulder No..,” he explained the cause. I resisted the urge to inform him that I work in a Fintech Ops and not in IT. “Do like this. 20 Times.” He showed me the perfect jumping jacks and then started counting. I followed his instructions. After the count of 15, I could feel my heart pumping at full speed. Damn!! Its just jumping jacks and not a marathon, what's wrong with me? Before I conclude the thought, I heard “Stop, Now 20sec break, after that Knee high.” I smiled.
“Nice, Nice, Nice,.. 14.. 15.. Good.” The fellow was counting, and I was feeling a little embarrassed as, from this day onwards, people will know me as the guy who passed out during the warmup. “Very nice.. 19. Andddd 20.. Good. Good. 1 min break.” He informed me of my achievement. I replied with a thumbs up while huffing and puffing like a big bad wolf. I smiled, knowing that I had just completed a small task, and the sense of joy started to fill me. The sense of accomplishment was short-lived. “Only 4 minutes have passed. You still have 56 minutes to go on that,” inuke announced the remaining time and pointed to the ellipticals.
To Be Continued.
Hey Folks,
So, I kicked off the fitness campaign with a bang. Good thing that bang was my head hitting the wall. I feel tired and a little unwell. I dont want to be the guy who got scared of the Cardio. Let's see if my body listens to me in the morning. :-P

Me: that is a very short warmup o_O
also me: he's not a gymnast you idiot
And in fairness I also do relatively short somewhat intense warmups with my groups and the lower levels are usually complaining that they're tired at the end of that and I'm like WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE ONLY JUST STARTED :D
Great start :D How did the rest of the workout go after that? If you've done this before you'll probably recall that you're probably going to be sore and sorry for yourself for a couple of days so ease back into it and don't let it discourage you XD
Oh!! So, you're from the high-intensity Workout group, Nice. I am taking all this fitness thing slow. really slow. In the last 5 days have been doing nothing but stretching, treadmill and cycling. And avoiding the mirror. 😅 It's going well.
Yeh it can get pretty intense XD not at the levels I coach though.
Starting off slow and steady is definitely the better way to go about it, and sounds pretty solid!
