How Dumb is Dumb Bell?

“Hey!! My favourite one-time travel blogger. What you doing?” inuke popped in.
“You know, try all you want, but I am going to post more travel blogs, and you have to come up with something else to ignore me,” I replied to inuke’s hello.
“So, next year huh!!. Cool..” inuke picked up the hot bags from the table. “What's this for?”
“My… shoulders and arms. It hurts. Man!!” I replied.
“What happened?”
I did the arm motion of biceps curls and shoulder press.

“Ahhaa… How's the gym session coming up?”
“Well, I am getting used to making excuses for the leg day and with the hectic schedule. I think I am coming short on the bet..” I replied.
“How many hours completed?”
“16 completed. 8 to go and 4 days are left.”
“You know if you start spending 2 hrs a day in the gym, you can still..” inuke stopped mid-sentence after looking at the rage in my eyes.
“I am not going tomorrow or ever. I'm quitting. I need the time for myself to focus on the writing and other stuff.” I explained.
“Oy!! Hero, what other stuff? You do only 3 things. First is office work, second is writing. And that too, you are very inconsistent at and third is this gymming. Dont quit now, this is the time to push through, and things will become easier.”
“I want to, but the pain is insufferable. And I think the trainer misunderstood my Joke when I said I want to be Mr India. Wo mujhe sach mein Mr India bana dega..” I tried conveying my pain. [Mr India is reference to an invisible character in an Old fun movie.]

“I think you are close to the point where things will become easy. Haven't you heard the 21-day habit theory? Like it takes 21 days to form a habit, something like that. Once its set it your body will be on autopilot in the gym.”
“I am not sure the 21-day thing works; it sounds like some fake guru nonsense.” Cynical me replied.
“No, no, it's been proven. And you also remember the time when you quit smoking, right? You thought it was impossible, but then you did it. Search for that kind of drive and you can get this done.”
“Well, if you put it that way. It's true, I should keep pushing more and more 16 is completed so in another 5 days, I will hit the mark of 21 days and this should be my new unbreakable habit. Thanks mate.” I expressed my gratitude to inuke.
“That's the spirit… I am not sure, but I think we misunderstood it.”
“Misunderstood what?” I asked.
“21-Day rule, The rule says for you to form a habit, you must practice the habit 21days, and you have 16 hours.”
“Come again..” I got kinda nervous.
“I may be wrong here, but I think you are still 8 hr short on 1 day. “

Hey folks,

That's all for today. Workout is not easy, but once you get used to it, it much much easier. Well, that's what my trainer said, but I think he is lying.
A big thanks and hugs to the awesome friend from BeAwesome and the IndiaUnited community.
Also feel free to share you gym stories here.

There is a period of pain that you're going to have to push through, that's how starting intense physical activity works :) Especially if you haven't done it for a while or ever.

Though if it's actually really bad you might need to consider if you have any long term injuries you may not have realised you had or been attending that might need to be worked with/around, and perhaps throttling back a little bit (maybe cutting back to once or twice a week if you're doing more than that) and easing in again XD

It's not that painful now. But that legdays got me weak.. Bro I couldn't walk properly for 2 days and to make matters worse the elevator went into maintenance that day at office. 🤣

BTW the trainer is really cool he was a national level bodybuilder. He is 53 and looks just a year older than me.

You doing regular yoga?

LoL what timing XD Keep it up, gotta convince the muscles they're needed for stuff otherwise they'll keep sdlothing around and being weak forever D:

I don't do yoga. I did try to get back into kung fu at the beginning of this year but that hasn't happened yet x_x throwing kids around is currently all the exercise I'm getting ^_^;
