Though I don't keep empty cans, I'm definitely with you on the first two! You know what I don't understand? How people routinely throw away boxes like these from other items, candy, makeup etc, but then buy empty boxes to store things in. Like...it's an aesthetic thing, I get that, but it seems so dopey not to just re-use a perfectly good storage box you received. :D
I'd say you're on the right track and probably saving a bunch of money like this too!

Oh yeah! I really don't know why probably they don't think before they trash it, but does candies container are damn good for salt, season cubes, spices storage and more. No need to spend just reuse, so easy.
