Giving trash an opportunity to be useful.
What if I told you I reuse almost everything and anything that can be reused? You might doubt that, right? But it’s true! Today, I want to share three interesting new items I’ve reused and how I discovered their potential but before I go into it I want you to know that reusing items does not only help reduce waste and create space but also sparks creativity and brings immense satisfaction.
Baby’s Gift Box
The first item is a baby’s gift box I received from a family friend after the birth of my baby. When I first laid eyes on it, I was thrilled not just because of the thoughtful gift it contained, but because of how adorable the box was. It was sturdy, colorful, and too cute to discard. I was practically in love with the box.
Immediately, I knew what I wanted to do with it. I repurposed it as a makeup box! Now, all my makeup items are neatly stored and easily accessible, just like they would be in an expensive, store bought makeup organizer. The satisfaction I get from using this box cannot be measured. Every time I reach for an eyeliner or a lipstick, I’m reminded of how a simple act of reuse can bring so much joy. Reusing doesn’t just save money; it encourages resourcefulness and creativity, yeah!
Economy-Size Pad Bag
The second item I’ve repurposed is the bag that comes with economy-size sanitary pads. One of the reasons I always opt for the economy size is, in fact, the bag itself! This bag is not just functional but often comes, in a vibrant, appealing look just like a purse.
Rather than throwing them away, I use these bags to store my jewelry. From necklaces to earrings, the bag keeps everything safe, organized, and easy to find. It’s a practical, budget friendly alternative to buying expensive jewelry cases. And let’s be honest, there’s something deeply satisfying about turning what would have been trash into something useful and beautiful. It proves that even the simplest items can have a second life if you think outside the box.
Tins of Tomato and Sweetcorn
Lastly, let’s talk about those empty tins of tomato paste and sweetcorn. While most people would toss them in the trash or recycling bin, I saw an opportunity. I now use these tins as measuring cups in my kitchen. They’re the perfect size for scooping ingredients like rice, beans, or flour, and they work just as well as the store bought versions.
What I love most about reusing these tins is the sense of accomplishment it gives me. It’s such a small, simple change, but it reduces waste and saves me from buying extra utensils. Plus, they add a rustic charm to my kitchen that I didn’t expect!
In other words, reusing isn’t just about saving money or reducing waste. It’s about the joy and creativity you can find in everyday items. There’s always a way to give items a second life. The beauty of Reusables lies in their ability to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. So, next time you’re about to toss something or anything out, pause and think: how can this be reused? You might surprise yourself with the possibilities of the outcome.
Though I don't keep empty cans, I'm definitely with you on the first two! You know what I don't understand? How people routinely throw away boxes like these from other items, candy, makeup etc, but then buy empty boxes to store things in. Like...it's an aesthetic thing, I get that, but it seems so dopey not to just re-use a perfectly good storage box you received. :D
I'd say you're on the right track and probably saving a bunch of money like this too!
Oh yeah! I really don't know why probably they don't think before they trash it, but does candies container are damn good for salt, season cubes, spices storage and more. No need to spend just reuse, so easy.
