Bundles of Joy and a New Start for My Son’s Tech Career

A few days ago, I shared in my post about my first son Desmond, and his need for a laptop to support his graphics design work, freelance opportunities, and computer science studies in school. In that post, I was reaching out to the community for some form of financial support to help me cover the balance of the amount of money that was needed for the laptop. While I didn't receive any help from anyone, I am very happy to say that today, the story has taken a new turn for good.

By all means, I was able to get him the laptop.

The mix of emotions that exudes from my son as I handed him his laptop is more than I can explain in writing. It was a moment of relief, happiness, pride, and gratitude all in one for both of us. As a father, there's a different kind of joy you feel when you see your child smile because something important to his growth has finally fallen in order. A laptop may not be much of a thing for some people, but for my son, it's a sign of progress, reassurance, and a recognition of efforts.

Getting the laptop for him is like a burden lifted off my chest. I had sleepless nights thinking about how he would keep up with his school work, meet design deadlines, and continue building his skills if I wasn't able to get the laptop for him. Now, I feel relieved, and more confident about his career path, knowing that he now had what he needed to succeed.

This laptop means independence and confidence for my son. No more limitations or struggling with frustration while using a mobile phone for design and learning. He can take on freelance opportunities now without fear of falling short because of a lack of a laptop. I can already tell how he feels when he called me last night to thank me for the laptop. I sensed a renewed motivation, more focus, and stronger belief in himself from his voice as he spoke to me over the phone.

I want to also take this moment to appreciate the Duo community, even though I didn't receive any support as intended in the previous post, the words of encouragement from those who commented on the post mean a lot to me. They show that people take their time to read my post and share in my situation. Encouragement may not pay bills, but it strengthen hearts, and that alone is something very important.

I am grateful that I didn't give up, and also grateful for my son in his fresh start on chasing his dream and ambition. This is a new chapter for him and as the father, I am proud to be a part of his journey.
