The bittersweet symphony of time.

It's been nine years since I first felt you in my arms, and my heart is filled with melancholy and gratitude at the same time.

As I write this post, she calls me to celebrate her ninth birthday. It is impossible to deny this wave of melancholy because it is mixed with the immense joy of seeing her grow up and knowing that she is well. It is a bittersweet feeling and a reminder that time is a silent thief that advances relentlessly.

I can write about feelings like a gentle sadness that accompanies me as I think about everything and anything related to his growth, reflecting the deep love I feel for him and that longing to treasure every moment and, above all, the memory of every hug and every "I love you" he gave me before going to sleep. That echoes in my conscience because that stage of childhood, with its magic and innocence, is a fleeting treasure that I am not enjoying and that I deeply miss.

Amidst all this jumble of emotions, I find some comfort in the certainty that our family bond is the safe anchor in their lives and that good family relationships are fundamental. It is something we know and must apply. We must all create that space so that children feel safe and loved, thus laying the foundations for positive self-esteem and giving them confidence in themselves and, above all, in others, because it is in the warmth of the homes where we learn to relate to others is where we find refuge and stability.

The family is the first space for socialization where the first bonds are formed and most of the values that will last a lifetime are learned. As parents, we are their first models of emotional behavior. So our interaction with them influences how they will relate to themselves and others throughout their lives. That is why it weighs so heavily on me to be distant.

It's been a while since I've posted anything this personal here for another guest, but this is how I feel right now, and I wanted to share it with all of you.
