How important is water to you?
Yes, you will surely answer that water is very important and is the most necessary vital liquid for human beings, but my question is: in the area where you live, in your city, in your community, how important is water? How often do you have drinking water, and if so, I would very much like to read about how this is obtained for you and your family.
- Currently, here in Venezuela, heavy rains are causing flooding and various health problems due to diseases caused by dirty water. Due to poor maintenance of many of the dams and water pumps, the aqueduct system has collapsed.
We are already used to water shortages, which is why many of us have containers to collect rainwater and use it for simple tasks such as cleaning bathrooms and floors. The water in the sink is usually rainwater, and today I dare to talk about this topic because having clean water is very important.
Today, I collected water in this small bucket to use for watering the plants inside my house. I also used it to clean the floor and for other daily household activities. However, we know that rainwater is not suitable for cooking or drinking, which is perhaps why I have had several health problems, as it is currently quite difficult to obtain clean, drinkable water suitable for human consumption.
In previous posts, I have talked about how I look for drinking water here in the area where I go with my skateboard a couple of kilometres away. I fill approximately 14 litres of water in seven 2-litre containers, put them all in my backpack and return home on my skateboard.
- That is why I am asking you all again what is so important to you and how easy or difficult it is to get drinking water.
I know that in other places there are drinking water services that come directly to your home, where you can drink water straight from the tap, and this service is paid for, but here in Venezuela, absolutely none of this works as it should. They promise you a free water service and sell you the idea that you will have water at no cost, but what they don't tell you is when you will have it. In several areas of my town, there are places where no water has come out of the pipes for more than a decade, and there are other areas where the pipe system has not even been installed, and this has been a constant complaint and struggle from previous governments to the current one.
In another area, heavy rains have caused flooding and natural disasters, which are truly unfortunate, since very few of us Venezuelans can cope with a crisis like this. Personally, I cannot imagine what my life would be like if one of these storms destroyed my home. It would be totally tragic, and I think that in such a situation, I would simply take the necessary measures and leave for another place, another country, queuing for buses, cars, trucks , but I know that I would not stay in this country to see my life come to an end.

I try very hard to avoid a tragic tone in my posts, but this is really what we are experiencing, this is what surrounds me and is on my mind, and that is why here on the blockchain I have found this place, this space where I can express myself and share my reality with many of you. Drinking water is, as basically everyone knows, important. I recently heard about a member of Guns'n'Roses who had only been drinking alcohol for 12 years 😂
Anyway, I live in a somewhat highly developed country, Denmark.
We basically have drinking water in our toilets and showers, that's how clean it is.
I would be very bad at trying to do it any other way, but the way you're forced to do it does sound very beneficial in terms of saving water. I wish it was somewhat like that here.
It looks like quite a dangerous place. Very, very beautiful but also dangerous place.
