Stepping out to try out New Places

Over the last weekend, I and my friend decided to explore the streets around where we live - we hardly really ever do that. Most of my exploration has been to distant locations.

This time we looked for nice food spots around where we live.

We decided to drive around and find spots. I for one might not really be someone that likes going out that much especially when there's no specific place to go.
But my spontaneous friend nudged me ahead to get out of the house, despite not having enough money to throw around.

So we drove around the rainy messy road that plies Ashi Bodija Ibadan looking for spots.

This road has been under construction for a while. The rains made it quite unpalatable to ply

My gas guzzling jalopy Pathfinder made moving around an easy walkover. This car, though old, has felt like a tool, more like a hammer, than a luxury convenience. Just like they say about Landcruisers, it might not be the best, but it always get you home. It always gets the job done. While I'll definitely get another car in the near future hopefully, I don't intend to sell this. The vehicle just has character newer cars today don't have.

So we found this newly opened spot around Ashi Bodija Ibadan. They make smokey jollof rice and a special kind of beans called "ewa agoyin". Then they had chicken, turkey and fish.
The physical outlook was not bad. They played some soft afrobeat music perhaps to attract customers to the place.

I believe the sign says O2 jollof🤔

We decided to try it out. We bought a plate of smokey jollof and chicken with coleslaw.
The customer service was great. We spent 3000 naira on that.

After consuming the smokey jollof with my friend, I can tell you it's one of the best smokey jollof I'd ever had from an eat-out. It tasted so good and well made. I almost regretted I didn't buy more, cos it left me still hungry.

But then, before we drove away, we found another place almost opposite the place, we found another place where they sold Shawarma and parfait. The Shawarma cost 3000 naira for one sausage. The parfait cost 2500 naira for the small cup we bought.

We had to wait for them to make the food. The Shawarma and parfait was a good addendum to the smokey rice, though it wasn't all that fantastic.

We retired to our homes and relished the money we spent

A day well spent right?
What should we do this coming weekend?

Yeah... we give different names to our jollof rice. There's the regular jollof, party jollof, smokey jollof, concoction/local rice jollof etc.
Just many ways to make it interesting.
