Dopamine detox: Honest expectations, day 3/3
This post is the honest expectations I have for my dopamine detox journey.
Expectations
As I write this, I have no idea what to expect from the third day of my detox journey.
Like, my imagination can't even begin to understand what might actually happen.
Maybe science will hold some sort of answer?
When this article is released I'm just about 60-62 hours in (depending on the exact time I start).
Things will have been rough, I might even be suffering from withdrawal effects!
Pretty sure I'm very thankful that this will be over soon! I need to grab something to eat, if I haven't already 🤣
Oh... and coffee! ☕☕☕
The more I think about it, the more determined I become to complete this challenge without any setbacks or failures. That's a good thing, but is also related to my mindset before the actual challenge begin - so once again, I need to get back on track! 😆🤦🏼♂️
Can science help?
According to this article about water fasting, there are evidence for "detoxing" your body by only consuming water for 24-72 hours.
This is basically what I'll be doing, along with a few other steps too.
According to the before-mentioned article, this involves a full-body detox.
What is a full-body detox?
You can read some more about that here.
This states:
while detox diets don’t do anything that your body can’t naturally do on its own, you can optimize your body’s natural detoxification system.
This is in regards to toxins in your body, in a process that involves the liver, kidneys, digestive system, skin, and lungs.
I do it mostly for a dopamine detox. And while there are contradicting articles on the matter, I firmly believe it will help me in the ways I want it to.
On top of that, I have some auto-immune diseases (in short, inflammatory conditions), which may actually benefit from my detox journey, according to this article
2nd part of the above article states:
Promotes better health by fighting inflammation
Along with links to their sources and some studies.
Conclusion
I think, in fact, that science did help some.
It has given me even more determination to complete the journey ahead!
Now just about 12 hours (or less) remain until I'll be back.
This is the last of my expectation posts.
After this I'll be doing a recap of how I did, what I felt like during the journey and what actually was the hardest part.
Engagement part
Would science help you with a journey like this?
If you feel within yourself, would you benefit from a detox of any kind? If yes, what kind of detox?
Don't forget to tune in later when I reveal the result of the journey!
Let me know in the comments if you want to be tagged in my "report" article 😎
