Javaris Crittenton’s story is one that highlights how the people u surround yourself with can ultimately lead to your destruction.

I’m from Atlanta & was a high-school/AAU 🏀 player myself, so I seen his rise first hand. From high-school phenom to the starting point guard at Georgia tech, his future was destined for NBA greatness.

But mannn, you need some sort of system in place to stay focused and out of trouble. Glad he’s home and now gets to tell others about his mistakes and growth.
If u didn’t know, he & Gilbert Arenas had a well-known locker room situation where firearms were involved but they reconciled and have been friends since, even throughout Crittenton’s incarceration. #sports #nba

Part 2/8:

Addressing the Media's Narrative

Moving on, Gil raises the longstanding topic of the media's portrayal of their past relationship. A notorious incident between Javar and Gil during their tenure with the Wizards in 2009 created a narrative that depicted them as adversaries. Gil passionately clarifies, "The media created a completely different narrative," stating how closely they actually were despite the chaos surrounding them. Javar echoes this sentiment, stating that the media's influence led to misunderstandings that could easily have been avoided.

Through shared memories of hanging out, discussing life, and even attending clubs together, they reveal that their friendship endured through thick and thin, contrary to what was reported.

As their conversation unfolds, Javar reflects on his younger self, wishing he had embraced humility and patience rather than focusing on immediate validation. Growing up as a young athlete amidst seasoned stars like Kobe Bryant, he experienced frustration and self-doubt when compared to those who seemed to receive opportunities more easily. He advises aspiring players to “stay down and keep grinding,” emphasizing that patience is critical in the journey of professional sports.
