Didn't read the full post but just FYI it only expires if you haven't done any actions that require active key, if you're a regular user you're usually fine!

Thanks for the insights: I will edit and include your comment in the post. My votes expired but in fairness I was MIA for some months. I'm almost certain I used my Active key within the 12 months leading up to the expired votes. Wallet claims, gaming token claims, ect. all done using keychain but I could be wrong.
