Greens, Shadows & Such

A glorious midweek in DD. The sun is up and not too hot, making it ideal for some outdoor thingy (fun). Being a lover of sunshine, she went out cheerfully in the yard around midmorning to get her dose of nature's blessings. Lo and behold, the farm girl found something, much to her amazement. Aha! A young, new fruit! A healthy one at that!

Now that's a lovely surprise! She was lamenting a few weeks ago that the first fruit of their pumpkin plant had gone elsewhere. Little did she know that a replacement was forthcoming. What a delight!

And she found a few more buds, which made her smile, full of hope that they would triumph against the many challengers (pests and such) around them.

There were flowers too. Some worms have feasted on one (middle pic below). Darn! She will have to put the law in her own hands and crush and kill put an end to those predators soon, or they will destroy all the other blooms. Cruel, but it's inevitable.

Something must be done, and she couldn't think of any other way. If she takes the worms to the river or the woods, there's a chance they would bother other people's plants, or worse, they could find their way back to their yard.

Meanwhile, the young trees an uncle gave them the other day (three in total - two mangoes and a papaya, all in already damaged pots) are still waiting to be transplanted.

"At least you have space to grow them in your property," he said. We have yet to decide where to plant them, so they are still out there, beside the pole of beans, the crawling pumpkins, and the chayote.

Thankfully, the rain bathed them clean last night, and the nasty flies that had taken shelter under their leaves are gone.

Anyhow, while basking under the sky, she had fun with some of the plant shadows. It's one of those things she enjoys doing when Mr. Sun's out shining brightly.

She would have stayed out and snapped some more if the LilGuy had stopped howling; he wanted to be in the yard, too. But it was almost 11 am, which meant lunchtime was approaching, and she needed to start cooking.

Maybe, they will have another fun yard moment tomorrow if the weather permits. Until then, it's time to hit the sack and let the body (and soul) rest, for it's quite late (almost midnight). It sure had been a wonderful hump day and she's grateful as always.🙏

The new fruit made her smile😃😃
I feel like you always have less work on your farm during rainy days because the rain helps you water your plants

A hint, the flowers without pumpkin, don't waste them, grab and make a risotto or fry them, they are extremely good

Aha! That's a great idea. I haven't thought about that, so thank you. Will see if I can pick a few of them later.

Oh at this stage the pumpkin needs assistance and protection by the owner at least apply insecticides on the worms to avoid them from dying and stunt growth

Thank you. We try not to spray chemicals on our plants, especially those that we intend to consume :-) We experiment on home remedies like baking soda mix or similar things that help minimize pests.

Ok that's a good idea and also better for human health 🥰

Yes :) It's something we try anyway, and we lose most of the fruits to pests :D

When we plant things like this at home and they grow, it's a lot more fun to see them.

Seeing the growth of plants is something interesting, especially when flower and fruits comes in plants. It can give us a sense of achievement. I think you also feel the same. Don't you?
I thought you would leave shadow this post but in the ending part, you caught Shadow again. You won't change in this case🤣🤣.

You're right about that, Inti. It's funny that I feel I accomplished something when the plants around me are thriving, even when all I did was watch them😀

The shadows? Oh, please don't mind me, !LOLZ
