Of Wet Season, Perspectives & Guests?

Magandang buhay!

It's a hump day down here in DD, and still raining. Oh well, I have decided to learn to love the season because it is not going away anytime soon. It's odd because I used to like it in my childhood, but ended up disliking it in my grown-up years (just like how I wasn't fond of winter during my stay overseas). Crazy, huh?

The thought (reflection) came after I read a post from a relative who was having fun roaming around the city streets, even when it's rainy. It sort of gave me a gentle nudge, like a whisper saying I gotta change my mindset toward the wet weather and spare myself from unnecessary stress. And so, it is decided that from here on, I will try to see it differently.

And this beautiful Japanese Silk Moth (also known as Golden Emperor Moth) seems to be cheering me on😁

I love its bright, cheerful color. The orange-black patterns on its wings are like eyes or something.

The husband photographed these during a cousin's wake earlier this month. We stayed late because we wanted to listen to anecdotes, puzzles, conversations, and related stories, most of which are usually shared by those who remain and give the bereaved family company through the night. The tales are mostly funny to keep people awake.

We had a lot of laughter at that time because a witty old man took the stage and shared his banters. We would have gone home early (or dozed off) if not for the interesting conversations.

Anyway, here's another snap of the bright moth. I noticed there is a small chip on its right hind wing. It may have had a minor accident along its way :)

And just when we thought there was no more, a tropical swallowtail moth (Lyssa Zampa) was seen in the kitchen. Some older folks see these as a good omen. They believe these are friends from afar, paying their last respects to the dead. Now that's a nice perspective :)

Scientifically, they say these moths usually emerge around these wet months to look for potential mates or find nectar sources to feed on (it makes sense since plants and flowers thrive mostly in the rainy season, and there were plenty of flowers near the casket that night).

Whatever the reason might be, I hoped these two found what they went there for. It was sure nice to have met them that night😊

I rarely go out when it rains, but yes, it's nice to find beautiful things when we least expect them :)

It's raining like every day there lol

I like moths, some people dislike them, but I find them cool as a butterfly, that's pretty colored

It sure is. All day and night. It's the season after all.

We even experienced monsoons (days and nights) for almost two months a few years ago (2018, if I'm not mistaken). I think that was when I started disliking the rainy season !LOL

Moths are beautiful. I like them too, 'coz I find them interesting.

After the rain, we find many special and beautiful types of insects and butterflies. I myself take great pleasure in taking pictures of them.

Butterflies move a lot. Moths, on the other hand, stay still, so it's easier to take their pictures :)
