Our Simple Pandemic Wedding: Love, Masks, and a Day to Remember
After seven years of being together, I finally married the love of my life — right in the middle of a pandemic.
It wasn’t the kind of wedding we first imagined, but in many ways, it turned out to be more meaningful than anything we could have planned before. It was simple, solemn, and filled with genuine love.
Our theme was white and pink — but with a special touch: my bride wore pure white,
a symbol of love and simplicity, while our guests were invited to wear pink and white,
adding a soft and romantic tone to the entire venue. It created a beautiful harmony, elegant and peaceful, just like the kind of marriage we’re hoping to build.
The ceremony was held at Bastian Food Garden in Polangui, Albay, a lovely, cozy venue perfect for our intimate gathering.
We followed all health protocols — only 100 guests were allowed in person.
Everyone wore face masks or face shields, and social distancing was strictly observed.
But what made the day even more special was that we also set up a Zoom video call for those who couldn’t be physically present. Seeing family and friends join virtually, smiling and waving from their screens, reminded us that love knows no limits — not even distance.
We chose to keep our wedding simple and practical, spending only ₱40,000 for catering and accommodations. It may have been a modest budget, but the outcome was far from lacking. The food was delicious, the guests were satisfied, and the whole setup was neat and tasteful. It was a perfect example of how simplicity can still be full of joy.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, our wedding ceremony centered on a Bible-based marriage talk that lasted about 30 minutes.
It was short but filled with meaningful reminders about love, loyalty, and how to build a strong, God-centered marriage. It gave us a solid foundation and a spiritual start to our life together.
After the talk, some friends and family shared short messages — some emotional, some lighthearted — but all deeply heartfelt.
Their words added so much warmth to the day. It reminded us that after seven years together, our journey has never been just about the two of us. It’s also about the people who stood by us all these years.
Of course, we thank everyone who helped behind the scenes — especially our usherettes, who guided the guests, managed the flow of the program, and helped keep everything smooth and organized. Their hard work made the day run perfectly.
As the groom, I can honestly say it was a day I’ll never forget.
Watching my bride walk down the aisle in white — graceful and radiant — was the most beautiful moment of my life.
Some guests brought gifts,
others gave cash, and all of it was deeply appreciated. Every gesture of support helped us start our married life with full hearts and thankful spirits.
No, it wasn’t a grand wedding. But it was complete — complete with love, faith, and the presence of those who matter most, whether in person or online.
So, yeah...
This was our wedding — modest, pink and white, and filled with blessings. And honestly, we wouldn’t change a thing.
Until next time,
– Jeff
