Ford Motor Company - a handshake with the people

There's a collection of videos on TikTok, of all places, where people are screaming from the rooftops: America is back! Their reason? Ford - you read that right - the car company.

The Ford Motor Company has been "inspired" by Trump's tariffs, it seems. Yes, that is precisely what is happening right now. They saw Trump playing 4D chess with Economic Tesseracts us mortals can't understand, and in an attempt to show loyalty, they've dropped their drawers all the way down.

Employee pricing, you say? Yes, for a limited time, you can go buy your new F150 at the same price someone who works for Ford can. Trump supporters are calling this move a slap in the face to those who doubted Trump all along.

It's a handshake with the common folk, they'd say. They know people are hurting; they know people need new cars. Thus, out of the goodness of their hearts, Ford, in their infinite mercy and wisdom, decided to forgo all profits.

I do have to say, this move, this clearance of inventory, this mega super duper sale, reminds me of something.

Oh well.... I'm sure I'll remember soon enough.

The tariffs are bullshit really. The calculations bear no relation to real trade, e.g. the penguins. They are hitting African countries that produce cheap clothing, but can't afford to buy US goods. That includes Lesotho, the place tRump thinks nobody has heard of. He's a horrible human in so many ways.

Ford is an international company and that won't change any time soon.

Ford will be fine. They will probably discontinue most of their cars. Keep making only their top sellers (trucks for sure) and nothing more.

That’s a great move from ford. When all of this is over, they’d have gotten the market cos they got the hearts. All market strategies

There have been issues with new car sales for a while, IIRC. Gotta move inventory for new manufacturing. But the real economy has not been as good as people were saying under Biden, and this new Trump regime is not a healthy trend. Consumer debt is already overburdened.

In the era of megatrucks with diesels rolling coal, all I want is an old 1/2-ton RWD with a straight-6 and a clutch nowadays. Dodge, Ford, Chevy, it wouldn't much matter, but I do have an affinity for the Chrysler slant-6. A Ford with a Windsor V8 might make me think outside that I6 idea though.

You have no idea how much you revealed with this opinion. hahahaha.

Well, I'll tell you. I like simple. I prefer simple. For years I had an old GMC Sierra 99, I think and ran that thing to the ground. Loved it. Worked on it myself. Sold it working and everything when I left Arizona.

These days I drive a Russian Lada Niva. A little tank. It will destroy your back (so I changed the seats), but I can service it myself without specialized tooling. Its not fast, not even a little bit. But, its like a little tractor. I've pulled fancy Toyotas from the mud a few times with it, and it laughed all the way. The little tank is 30 years old and I reckon I'm going to get ten more years out of it.
